OK, so four different browsers for iOS all strip the original filename, so that's that... our iPad/iPhone/i(Pod)Touch users have no way to avoid the next half-million "image.jpg" attachments.

And Samsung/Android/Firefox attachments KEEP the original attachment filename intact. I don't need a tablet atm, but this seals the deal: if I did get one, it wouldn't run iOS: it'd probably be a Samsung device running Android.

iOS 8 will be released in the fall — most likely in mid-to-late September with new phones — and it may address the problem. We'll see.

Palomine's fingers are crossed that iOS8 does fix this issue, for the sake of our forum attachments.

I just got the IOS 7.1.2 update.I'm going to download it tomorrow.Maybe it will allow pictures to retain the original file name but I'm not hopeful!

By the way, if you've updated your iPhone/iPad to iOS 8.0.1 -- don't. Here's how to downgrade it back to iOS 7.

I really think that whoever is responsible for the changes to the photo library in the iOS 8 update must have been smoking crack!
I can't see all of my photos in one section now.They are divided in groups like recently added or they have names of places like New Hampshire or New York.It's just totally fucked!
I guarantee you that if Steve Jobs were still alive that he would release a statement that says -"I'm sorry to all Apple users but we messed up.I promise you that this will never happen again."

Apple has been coasting ever since his death.There has been no true innovation in their iPhone or iOS updates.Their motto has basically been-"Here's the new iPhone.It has a bigger screen and ummmm....,yeah,it has a bigger screen and some other stuff."
The other stuff is them changing things that do not need any changing.It's perfectly fine with the way it is.They only change crap so they can say they've changed things.
Here is one real screwup.On a few pictures that I've enhanced,there is this glitter crap that shows up on some pictures that I have enhanced after the iOS 8 download.After I enhanced the photo and as soon as I press save this glitter crap shows up on the picture.You can see it on Tyra's right ear,nostrils and right thumb.
I'm not downloading any changes to any iOS 8 update until I know for sure that it is safe.

I agree. They've stopped creating new things and resorted to just making different-sized versions of Jobs' old creations. And almost every time they wander too far from Jobs' vision for a product, the result isn't as good as the original was.

I think that when Jobs was running Apple, his vision of the future and attention to detail were so clear and comprehensive that the most efficient way to get things done was to surround himself with yes-men. Now he's gone, and the company is run by leaderless yes-men. (And it doesn't help that Tim Cook looks and sounds like Everybody's Grandpa. "Really, Gramps? It's a dandy new gizmo? Well I'll be darned!")

Gonzo,this is a screenshot of the message that I sent you a pm about,a few days ago.This is the message that came onto my screen when I was surfing the web.Even when I clicked ok on it,it would not go away until I did a hard reset on my iPod touch.That phone number does not match any numbers that I saw on the main Apple website.I thought you would like to see it for yourself.

Yeah, that's definitely a scam message.

Apple never uses exclamation marks in error messages.
Apple would write "application on your phone", not "application in your phone".
Apple would know that you weren't actually using a phone.
Apple would never tell you to call a phone number for support.
(And how are you supposed to call, when your "phone" just "crashed"?)
If Apple had an "immediate fix" for the problem, they'd update the OS, not install this stupid error message.
Apple Support URLs are always in the form "www.apple.com/support/etc".

Since we're on the topic of scams/hacks/phishies, etc... let me suggest folks watch the recent PBS Nova episode "Rise of the Hackers" ...nothing you haven't heard before (probably) but sobering/interesting nonetheless. The first bit relates about the writer for Wired who got hacked, how it was done, etc... all the more timely and relevant with the Fappening leaks of **27** pix from the cloud accounts recently (all of which, AFAIK, were due to the celebs GIVING their passwords out via phishing/spoof... not a single one of those was actually independently/actually hacked in the traditional sense).

I won't post a link to the show since PBS pages often have thumbnails of other shows/episodes, some of which might include kidz, but the entire "Rise of the Hackers" episode is viewable for free on the PBS site... just google for "video rise of the hackers."

And yet you still have people defending them as if they're on the Apple payroll, or claiming that "all Samsung does is copy the iPhone", or not willing to understand that the iPhone 6/6 Plus contains nothing that wasn't already in phones from two years ago (e.g. the Nexus 4 or the Galaxy Note), and nonsense like that.

So,my Internet got **91** for about 5 hours.It came on about a half hour ago.I'm posting this on an older IPod touch.The wifi works perfectly fine on it.On my,supposedly newest and much improved iPod touch that I purchased last November,does not work at all.I'm on an older Touch here.Even when resetting my newest iPod touch 3 times it still does not connect to the Internet.Apple can truly suck on the left nut of the Kentucky Derby winning horse that they rode in on!

I have a laptop but it's a real pain in the ass to pull it out just to post a few pictures on here.I find that the wifi is really slow compared to my IPod Touches that I have.
I'm seriously thinking of buying a Galaxy or some other kind of tablet.
