I looked into all the social services type avenues and the big kicker is they require an income. It's for people who don't make enough to afford an apartment. The options for zero income are literally the mission, shelter, or street.

I don't have any friends with the means to help me. Either their SO won't go for it (1 friend) or they already have someone on their couch, or they are on a couch lol. Sigh. Times are really tough in this area methinks.

I have a buddy in California who would probably put me up, he has a lot of room, but he's on vacation in Tokyo until thursday and I don't want to ruin it by asking him, so I'm waiting until he's home. I'd rather not move out of MN but can't be picky.

I don't have a tent but the weather is good right now so maybe I could go for a wooded area.

Can you reach out to your local TV station's human interest/consumer affairs reporter, perhaps?

Since we're all anonymous here, do you have a condition that might qualify you for Social Security? If nothing else, you may be suffering extreme depression.

Are you on food stamps? If not, you should apply immediately. That same county agency will be able to also hook you up with health care and perhaps other benefits.

I do have depression, anxiety and OCD but none of these qualify me for disability. I do get my medications for them paid for entirely and free doctor visits, so that's been nice. I can't qualify for food stamps because I'm an able bodied adult they said. If I had income though, they would give me some. Which is so backwards I can't stand it.

What would a TV or newspaper do? I'm curious. I could write to someone, as I'm a published journalist and feel quite confident in my ability to persuade with written language.

Are you a military veteran?

In my own case I was homeless and unemployed just 3 years ago.

The V.A. here in Hampton, VA has a domiciliary where I lived for 6 months and I had been diagnosed with chronic depression.

I applied for and was qualified to get a non-service connected disability pension plus I also qualified for SNAP (food stamps) while I was in the domiciliary.
