American Werewolf in London. Best werewolf movie ever IMO: funny, scary, great makeup and practical effects (that still hold up amazingly well, even years after the advent/flood of mediocre CG) and even some eye candy in the form of Jenny Agutter (from Walkabout of course, as well as Logan's Run) who plays the nurse/romantic interest & an unknown (to me) chestier lass briefly seen on-screen in a scene that takes place inside an adult movie theater.

LOVED that movie!

Another one which I highly recommend (and again, was filmed in the UK) is Dog Soldiers. Very funny in places. Brilliant movie.

I too, loved "American Werewolf in London."  At first, it seemed overly hokey, boring makeup & even more boring acting, then his friend Jack started showing up, becoming more & more a zombie.  The dreams were about as stupid as could be, but then his first transformation was by far some of the best prop & makeup effects for over a decade.  Ironically, the scariest scene for me was when David & Jack were being stalked.  A very close second was the Brit in the subway.  After, it was just knowing with anticipation.
Embrace the facts, uphold the truth.

How about the atmospheric 1941 original, "The Wolf Man," in glorious black and white with Lon Chaney, Jr.?

The chesty lass in the adult movie (See You Next Wednesday) was none other than Linzi Drew. Jon Landis, the director of An American Werewolf in London, features this fictional movie in a lot of his films, but it is never the same film. Apparently, the title comes from 2001:A Space Odyssey. It is from a conversation the astronaut David has with his parents.

Is that the same Linzi Drew who modeled in Score (she was blonde and semi-mature at that point) and as seen (I think) in the attached clip?

No love yet for "Dog Soldiers"? I haven't seen it (yet), but it keeps coming up on the lists of "Best Werewolf Movies".

With regards to "Ginger Snaps", it's the only movie I know of that actually dares to compare the werewolf's monthly change to **110**....

I wonder.... Are there any (non-comedy) werewolf movies where the werewolf was a good guy? There's an old comic series that I've heard of that has Frankenstein's Monster as a superhero. Why not something similar with werewolves or vampires - fighting in the shadows on the side of Good?

Well, it's a marvelous night for a Moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow...

Van Morrison, Moondance

Not a movie but there was the TV series "Werewolf" that only aired for one season on Fox in 1988.That did feature a good guy werewolf.
The show was about a guy who is a werewolf and the only way he can get rid of the curse is to kill the werewolf that bit him and turned him into one.The werewolf that he is after was played by Chuck Connors. The show was very much like the Incredible Hulk.Whenever the main character got pissed off he would change into a werewolf and that would usually happen when he would help someone and he would get smacked around.
I believed the show ended when the good guy caught up to the bad werewolf and they fought but it wasn't clear whether he had killed Chuck Connors or not.I remember that the good werewolf was lighter in color than the bad guy werewolf. The makeup was definitely movie quality. It was a good show.
On a side note. The hot actress Michelle Johnson from Blame It On Rio also starred on the series.

The 2010 movie 'Night Wolf' starring the busty Gemma Atkinson, is worth a watch. Not bad for a British movie.
