You know it’s from a long time ago because aside from the date, the price is just $2.  When was the last time you saw a magazine for $2?

It also depends what type of magazine, comic book it was since Heavy Metal was considered an adult magazine, it was more expensive than a Marvel or DC comic book at the time. But yeah, it's been 40+ years since you could buy a magazine at that price.
