Being a lurker not so long ago myself, I sometimes wondered, why some words were seemingly misspelled e.g. substituting an "i" by the cipher "1".
But there are others, which I suspected being some kind of cryptography, starting with 2 asterisks, followed by a two digit number and ending with two more asterisks.
Sometimes the meaning of these secret codes could be derived out of the context, but often I was let alone guessing which meaning was hidden behind the code.
The answer is easy: besides the banned words as listed in the "Rules" ('unsayable') there are apparently a lot more which just are convertet into the **nn** code by the text editor used for posting.
Here are some codes I found out myself and the workarounds, as given below:
**29** = c_e_l_e_b_r_i_t_y ( shortest: celebr1ty )
**82** = s_l_e_e_p ( shortest: sl3ep )
Conlusion: changing one letter ( e.g. the letter "i" by "1" or the letter "e" by the figure "3" ) is sufficient to prevent the text editor coding these, as I would call them 'strictly forbidden' words.
So I'm inviting all BEA-experts to lift this secret further.
Needless to say, that the 'unsayable' words as listed in the Rules will be converted.
But of course, we have agreed to obey these rules when registering - and will
