I adore corpse bride Emily!!!!
when I watched that film i imediately mentally hopped into her role in the story.
but if i hadn't she'd have set my heart aflutter.
she's a tragic heroine though, and her fate hits a little too close to home for what should be a fun bit of film escapism...
"strangely sexy"...
here's the thing. By the end of high school I had started to catch on that looks don't really account for all that much. But it would still be many more years before I saw the ultimate fruit of that epiphany. After my "fall from grace" (and no i don't mean virginity), I deconstructed just about everything, to sort out what I really thought & felt. I came to view "form" as less than meaningless. Not out of some sense of what would seem noble, but simply because it *is* meaningless. Give me a frog containing a prince anyday, over a prince containing a frog. I was perhaps always a bit body-dissociative. But at some point I let go my human instincts, and view the body as merely a 'thing', within which the actual article of interest resides. Literally, if Cthulhu were my true love, I'd get a schoolgirl outfit so he could play hentai monster. If I was deeply attracted to the being within, I could look on that barnacled monster's visage with blushing adoration.
Unfortunately for me, it is easier to find another possessing a hot body, than it is to find a body with a hot soul inside. so perhaps it is a sad and lonely story. Victor in the corpse bride flick never quite figured it out, and he got what he perceived to be a happy ending.
c'est la vie
