New Story Archive Created
« on: November 10, 2001, 09:59:00 AM »
The new BE story site is online and ready to go! http://www.(prohibited O).com/

It currently has every free story in the BEA archive, plus one I found and used to test the "Upload" page. If you want to add your story just go to the "Upload" page and add it.

To decrease web space and bandwidth, zip your story before uploading it. I don’t know how much bandwidth this is going to take, so zipping the files is the safest way to go.

This place is brand new; so when you find a problem, let me know at
webmaster@(prohibited O).com

Also, if you're a writer and you want me to take your story off of the archive, let me know.

I believe the site is now finished. There's still a list of things I want to change/fix, but you shouldn't have any problems.

However, I won't be able to do much with it until Monday afternoon; I have a certification test I need to study for. But I expect all the writers that have complained about MarkT to upload their story!

Oh, and Thanks to GammaRai for the Asst, Librarian pic and the Head Librarian pic. I'll post the latter on my site late Monday. I'll have time to do that, and all the other small changes on my list then.

We're not worthy! We're not worthy!  What an unbelievably kickass job you did with that site!  If the site is costing you guys a pretty penny, or need extra help with bandwidth etc., please do not hesistate to ask around for help.  Let's not let a good thing like this slip away.  Maybe we can make this a community effort.

Kanodin

P.S.  Did I mention we're not worthy?

P.P.S.  Take that Mr.T.!

Thanks a lot guys! I worked pretty hard to make “The (prohibited O)” come together, and the praises I'm receiving are really making my day.

Item of note: Sebbo is the first legit poster for (prohibited O)!

This my first real attempt to program a web site. I used PHP to script, and a MySQL database backend to hold all the info. The worst part about making the site was taking 700 stories and adding the info and the links to the database. And there’s so many more to go! I haven’t added the four stories from the last update, Chimerian has 6 stories that aren’t listed in the BEA story archive but are on his section in the free web area*.  People who got tired of waiting for a BEA update and posted to other sites can be added also. Oh yeah, and the members section. All the stories in the member’s section can be added to (prohibited O) with the author’s permission.

So, Ahem, To all ye Authors. If you wrote something for the BEA story contest, or have something in the Members section, can I have your permission to upload it to the new story site? You don't have to post your permission here, you can contact me at
webmaster@(prohibited O).com
(I’m really hoping to hear from the Authors of “Jeanne's Milk Allergy”, “Janey” and “Rudy”, my personal favorites.)

Someone asked about the file format the story should be in. I'd suggest using RTF, and if you have graphics then use HTML. DOC is a bloated Microsoft format, which changes with every version of "Word" they shove out the door. Hmm, wouldn't it be cool if someone did a story in a PDF file? ;-)

Why did I say Sebbo the first legit poster? Because someone uploaded a non-BE story last night! Unzipped even! So if some of the instructions on the site seem condescending and simplistic, it's because they are.

*: (Don’t upload those, I’ve already got them zipped and ready on my computer, I’ll upload them sometime tomorrow)

Damn it, Chili always says what I want to say before I can say it!

Cheers to you HHH regardless, for doing what tons of others should have done a long time ago.

He gave you what you wanted, folks. Now use it.

Thanks, HHH!!!

Wow- I've only written two stories for the Archive, but... they're right there!   Very pleased. But has it really been 14 months since the last installment of Everything Changes?? Good lord, I really have to get parts 3-6 into production...

Thanks again, HHH!! You rule!

I too am impressed…

But…

Can I make a suggestion? First, I expect the (prohibited O) to be in a semi-flux state. I figure things change at the requests of others to help improve the sight.

Is there any way to improve the little excerpt describing the story? For example:

Saddled with a gypsy curse, a young man makes women grow bigger breasts.

I like to think I put a little work into my stories and it’s this lone sentence that inspires people to read my fiction. (Sigh).

If I were to write a little excerpt would you consider posting it under the title?

Breasts grow - that's BE... what happens after that is irrelevant.

Of course, feel free to send me any changes, that includes rewrites.

webmaster@(prohibited O).com

Like I said, the site at this point is merely functional. One of the things that bothers me is that many of the stories have poor, or no descriptions. Another one is the title format. If you were looking for "The Flight", you don't know if it's going to be under T or F.

Sheesh, I was going to use "The Mistake" as an example. It's not there! Out of 6 stories I know Dr Enlarge has done, only Tytnosis is in the archive. For those of you who haven’t been with the BE community since the beginning, Dr. Enlarge was the first BE writer to post on the internet, back when all we had was newsgroups.

I have all five stories in my personal collection, Blooming in the Spring, Bust-up, The Mistake, Nature's Helper, and Swell Gal. However, sometimes I edit the story to my taste. For instance, sometimes the heroine has the same name as my sister, so I do a "Search and replace." Usually it's bra sizes and such though.

My point is, if anyone has the five stories above that they're sure are unchanged, please send them to me. Hell, you can cut out the middleman and post them yourself.

Later,
MrHHH

Do you change the heroines name to the same name as your sister?????  No, don't want to know ...

Do you only accept BE stories?  What about ordinary sex stories?

Mr. HHH, have you ever visited (prohibited L)?  http://www.(prohibited V).com/(prohibited L)/stories/index.htm   It has most of the older stories that Mark T purged from the BEArchive about 4 years ago because he hadn't been given permission to archive them.  You can find almost every major story there, as well as some of the classic series like Dr. Hooters.

I still think Mark T should get credit on your site for all the story captions...

By the way, I also rewrite stories.  I can't remember which bimbo stories on my hard drive are original and which have been rewritten.

Hey MrHHH..

Nice work on the archive.

Sadly, I must say, you beat me to it..

I was working on a site at http://www.breastales.com  to do just the same.  Only thing I didn't quite complete was the story poster.

However, if you'd like to join forces, I'd be happy to lend my design talents to assist.

Munch, use Occam's razor.
Also, I don't want to accept ordinary sex stories, but some of the writers here are extraordinary. So, the official rule is:
Non-BE stories are considered on a case-by-case basis. I can also be bribed.

Fret: Thanks! I went to (prohibited L) and grabbed all of "Dr Enlarge's" stories.
I'll be happy to give MarkT credit for the work he's done. Can you point out which ones are the fruit of his labor, and which ones belong to the previous two BEA story admins?

Hey Macros! I'd love to talk more to you, I just realized you sent me a private message the other day when I changed my forum user details. Email me at
webmaster@(prohibited O).com

Or get on IRC. Dalnet, #!!BE_LOFT. I'm on there a lot! I use a different nick, on IRC though. Long story.

Just a word of caution.  The stories that were posted under the members section on MarkT's archive are proprietary to the BEA.  Apparently, authors allegedly exchanged the rights to their stories for membership.  There is some fine print there saying that we are denied the permission to redistribute the stories there, including the story contest collection.  Be careful.

First of all, general "thanks", "great job" and "we're not worthy" =). A self-supporting story archive is a great idea - I hope it  keeps on growing and stays for a long long time.

My real question is wether only writers can upload, or if the rest of us mere mortals can contribute with our collections? I have ca 130Mb (over 2000 files, probably some duplicates) of stories on various backup CD:s somewhere that I'd happily upload, although not one-at-a-time...   uploads would have to be in combined zip files, but the stories are sorted by author and almost all of the files have a "complete" filename (general call to uploaders: please use the full title in the filename, at least inside the zip-file. And a description of the story would be nice - perhaps one or both can be added to the upload script?)
