Oh, don't worry about disturbing me, RoWe, I'm already thoroughly disturbed: mai penh rai!.  Myself, I always delete my test posts, lest I be embarrassed by some nosy f*cker who just can't control his curiosity at see a test thread with 16 posts like Tom Taylor's recent epic.
That was a lovely animation of Mr. Licker's "nutsack" btw.

I tried to do this immediately. But when I hit "Delete Topic" I just get "Only administrators or moderators may perform this action."
Now I patiently await to be enlightened.

The 'delete post' checkbox'll do it - and as before, deleting the the first post of a topic removes the whole topic.

1.You don't get 'Only administrators or moderators may perform this action', when
you log-in as 'Tom Taylor' and then
you click on 'Edit/Delete Post' [top-right of your (first) message]
2.'Edit Post'-Site: check box, if yes (top-left Delete Post ?),
3.then go down and click 'Edit Post'; that's all
