The next Webster's Dictionary should have a picture of Matt Hasselbeck next to the entry for 'cocky'.

I suppose in some ways that's good because it's harder to rattle a guy like that, but then you start getting into the whole arrogance/ignorance thing.

I don't see it as being "cocky", so much as "youthful exuberance". He was just so thrilled to be tied and with possession of the ball in "Sudden Death Overtime". He also didn't know his words would be heard by essentially EVERYONE watching the game.

Edit: I mean, "he was just so thrilled his TEAM'S SCORE was tied.." The other sentence may have been misinterpreted.

Yeah lots of energy in that game for sure. I mean a chance for Hasselbeck to beat his former mentor in the playoffs had to wire him up a bit.

I remember during the pre-race show for the 1995 (I think) Brickyard 400 (NASCAR Winston Cup), they were asking fans why they didn't like Jeff Gordon. One man said, "because he's cocky and arrogant." This guy was wearing a Dale Earnhardt t-shirt.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what Pregnut is saying is ..Dale Earnhardt was rather cocky and arrogant, too.   , and that's one of the things people liked about him (OK, so maybe he had a right to be cocky).

You got it, Herald. At least Dale died doing what he loved best. The rest of us should be so lucky.

Your allowed to be cocky & arrogant when your the best, like Dale was.

Back on topic:  Anyone watch the 2 games today?  Pretty good stuff.  I especially liked the 10 min run in the Carolina/St.Louis games where no one could make a fieldgoal. The Pats managed to put the Titans down, by 3 pts.  Hmm, anyone think the Pack will upset the Eagles tomorrow?

First off...WOOHOO!  Panthers win!  Even with the same official that basically cost them three games this year(WTF is a late hit before the whistle anyways?)  I didn't expect the Titans to give the Pats a run for their money...great game though.

Pack vs. Eagles...I'm going to say Packers.  Oh, and the Chiefs to win too.

I'm not really rooting for a team since the Raiders bowed out of the post season weeks ago. But I am actively rooting against certain teams: Ravens, Broncos, Chiefs, Cowboys,Titans and Patriots.

I think an ideal Super Bowl matchup for the NFL would be Colts vs. Packers.

Apologies to you cheeseheads out there, but I hate Green Bay and jumped with joy when Philadelphia beat them in OT today!  I'm glad to see the Rams choke on it too, because I'm a Niners fan from back when Joe Montana (greatest quarterback in the history of the game) was a green rookie and the Niners finished 6 - 10.

Next week it's going to be Eagles/Panthers in the NFC championship, and Colts/Pats in the AFC game...  I'd like to see the Eagles go because they haven't been there in a really long time and I think it's been even longer since they've actually won it...  I'd also like to see the Colts go because it's been forever for them too.

In assessing the matchups, I have to stick with the old addage; "Offense wins ballgames, defense wins championships".  To me, that says Eagles over Carolina because Philly has the better defense, and Pats over Colts because even though they scored 38 today they also allowed 31.

So, I think it's going to be Eagles/Pats in the big show, with the Eagles taking the Vince because they have the better defense.

I prefer sex to football. The balls are smaller and you don't have to wear a big jersey with your name on it.

Unless, you know, she's into that sort of thing. . . .

The Panthers have never been to the Super Bowl.  The last time they made it to the NFC Championshiops was way back in 1997.

Uh...I'd say Carolina has the better defense.  Eagles have a better offensive line though, so it should be interesting.

I still can't believe the Packers lost.  One bad pass ended it all.
