Another curious JSM! moment: Brooke Shields guest-starred as Nina's sister in season 5, and Finch ended up seducing her.  These pics are from the very end of the show, where Shields suddenly breaks out of character, saying, "Stop! This is ridiculous. No one's going to believe this. I mean, look at me and look at him," and she hops out of bed. The camera pulls back to show the whole set and Laura comes on, as herself, and says, "I know. Spade pays the writers to write scenes like this. Last year it was with two lesbians." Shields replies, sort of sneering, "I don't really watch the show," and as she walks off, Laura follows and says, "He once had them write a dream sequence where I had to..." then it fades out. Pretty unusual for a sit-com to break the fourth-wall like that. 

Brooke Shields starred in a very controversial movie in 1978 when she was 12 years old called "Pretty Baby" directed by Louis Malle in which she played a little girl that essentially lost her virginity in a New Orleans bordello when she was essentially sold off by her madam/mother to a very rich "Gentleman". A few years later in 1980 she played a role as a young girl who was shipwrecked in an island lost with a young man called "Blue Lagoon". She was/is a very beautiful woman who is 59 years old now and yet I have a hard time thinking about her in that way.

Shields was also recently elected president of Actors Equity, which shows she's well-regarded by her peers and probably tougher than her image.

It was probably one of LSG's best bounces, but it was over in a flash and 2/3rds of the screen was blocked.  I tried to make a gif, but even slowing it down didn't help.  So these 3 stills will have to serve to show Laura's sweet sweater stuffing as it swung too quickly past. When I think of all the Just Shoot Me! moments that might have been...!

I always thought LSG would have been perfect for a remake of this classic Jane Russell western.  Here's one of the original movie posters next to my amended version for a remake.  Jane Russell was terrific, I just think Laura would have filled out the role even better.

Okay, I confess.  The only reason I wanted to see LSG in a remake of "The Outlaw" was to see her in a scene like this.  That scene on the left from the original film was pretty damn kinky for 1944, so I figured they'd definitely have to increase the kink-factor in a modern remake.
