Thanks for what you're doing, Fraction. What I have is DSL, so its fast enough for me. I mean, it helped me download Anime episodes and movies by KAZAA!. Private message me or reply in this topic as soon as you come back to the forum. Ways of sending me the file either E-Mailing me, KAZAA!, or FTP (I'm still trying to figure out how use FTP, I got a LeechFTP program). Notify me soon!

yeah... too bad most regular home connections have uploads capped at a certain speed... i know it's like that in most places in the US anyway... more companies are afraid of people sending illegal things and if stupid Napster never had became so popular.. then maybe we wouldn't have that problem...

but yeah... the file is over 100 megs right? yeah.. i don't know any public space really that you can upload it to and has a thick enough band for all of us to download from it at reasonable speeds... i guess we're kinda stuck with sending it to each other one by one overnight...

i'm not in a hurry.. so you can send to the other guys first.. thanks!

Actually it's also the nature of aDSL to be biased towards the download side.  If the upstream weren't stifled a bit you wouldn't be able to use phones on the line at the same time.

A friend of mine knows how to undo caps using something to do with ports. I'm going to find out before I leave campus.

Well, FTP sites are fine and dandy, but I'll put it up on Kazaa! if someone is willing to let me d/l it off of them. (Unless, of course, we don't want this being spread around to anyone and everyone) Either way, I would greatly appreciate some kind soul to share the AB lovin' with me. PM me, please. (I have a cable modem, so no worries)

Kazaa will spyware your computer to death....even Kazaalite has a spywarebot in order for it to run properly.

Also check your start-ups for preograms you didn't install or thought you got rid of. Spyware took up 20% of my virtual memory.

Yep, that's what I used, but even after I killed the spyware, Kazaa downloaded more into my registry. I trust those people as much as I trust a Jackal with my steak sandwich.

So far WinMX, Direct Connect, and LeechFTP are the only things I know that don't spy you to death.

Also...check your hotmail accounts if you have them, folks. In your options->profile there is a new default that is checked that says "share my email and information with .net supported websites." be sure to erase the check.

I was aware of the spyware... just figured I'd suggest Kazaa! as an alternate means of file transfer. Sometimes you have to deal with unsavory things (i.e. deleting nosy programs) to get the things you want. Or maybe not...

Oh.. and thanks for the heads-up on the hotmail thing... damn you, Microsoft!

The spyware unit in KaZaa lite is neutered though.

no, it's just better hidden, and is required to make it run.

Well at least it removed the other 2 pieces of spyware that are normally installed with KaZaa.  AdAware still finds the last piece that is required for running.

I have a server and can probably put it up for limited public consumption.  However, that said, I'm moving to New Orleans this coming week, so my connectivity to said server will be off from Friday AM until whenever I get cable access established in Zee Beeg Eeezy.
