Once again I feel the need to start raising awareness of a sister
Playmate's dire need. While you all know the tragic circumstances of her
injuries (2 broken cervical vertebra & a broken arm), most of you are
unaware of her circumstances that are making this accident much worse.
First of all, let me say that Cynthia is being courageous, funny &
presenting a cheerful face to the world, all the while she is in a cast
that extends from her thorax up to her head, holding her chin, neck and
arm in place & will be wearing it for the next 4 to 6 months. She was
discharged from the hospital after 4 days (with a broken neck) all
because her injured retired career military husband's insurance didn't
provide the extra hospital time. Pretty disgusting. She cannot lie down,
even to **82**. While her husband tries to work several hours a day with
his injuries, Cynthia is left home alone propped up in bed with food,
medications & the TV within reach. They can't afford a nurse or an
attendant for her & the insurance won't cover it either. They are both
extremely proud folk, who would die before they let all of you know
their difficulties, BUT, I know them from someone close to Cynthia and I
am, once again, asking for your help for one of my 'sisters in history.'
Please, open your hearts and check books, and let's try to get some help
in the home for Cynthia. If we could raise enough money to hire an aide
for a few hours a day when she would ordinarily be alone, it would be a
great service. She could be cooked for, helped to the bathroom, have her
sheets changed, her position changed, she could be bathed and fed. Most
importantly, she would not be isolated and unsafe if she fell trying to
do these things for herself. Any Playmates on the List who would like
to join me and set up a few hours to go up to Cynthia, cook her a meal
or give any practical hands on kind of help, please contact me, also.
Donations may be sent to my PO Box & I will personally take the
responsibility of using that money to hire someone to care for Cynthia.
We still don't know what the residual damage will be, nor does she
realize the hard work that will be required in Physical Therapy &
Occupational Therapy after the cast is removed. Right now she is still
in shock. For those who don't remember, Cynthia was the first Playmate
of the List. I was the second, thanks to Cynthia.

I want to thank you all for your incredible generosity to Petra Verkaik
during her 'time of trouble' and we are happy to announce that we raised
over $5,000 which was a huge help in her efforts to pay legal fees just
to defend herself from a malicious & vindictive lawsuit. She is well &
beautiful as ever & was a guest on my 60th birthday show on my cable
access show, Under Our Skin. Tapes are available.
