my first 'talkie' animation

my first 'talkie' animation

Real life has been quite busy lately, but I got a (mostly) uninterrupted Sunday to sit down and play.  And I 'really' did.  Ended up going to bed Monday morning.  Really inspired by Ricky Java's latest talkies, I've wanted to do one for sometime also.  I had some footage left over from FSNO_Preview/FSNOP2_GwenTeaser and pieced them together, added a few new parts and came up with this, my first 'talkie'.

No BE per se, but like at Thrust's 'Growing Girls' page (is that still around? suppose I could look), it's always fun to read, or in this case hear, girls talk about 'their growth'.

Based on a Playboy Video of Miriam Gonzalez, where she does same (lovely!).

The second file (the one with the .002 extension) keeps downloading as a .txt file rather than a .002 file.  Any way to remedy this?  On a related note, in your DivX folder, all the files with a .001 extension always download as .avi files rather than as .001 files.  I've tried changing the file name when I save it, but it still has the .avi extension (or the .txt extension in the case of my original problem), which determines what type of file it is, and I can't seem to get it to download as anything else.  And I don't know how to change the extension and file type once the file is already downloaded.  I'd be grateful for any help or suggestions.  I've managed to get the .mov versions of your previous stuff, and it's really good.  Anything you could do to help me see the rest of it would be appreciated.
Be seeing you...

.002 IS a text file. It appears to have been corrupted. The .001 MOV is intact so you can try that instead of the DivX version. And the .oo1 DivX displays graphically as an AVI so it seems to be corrupted as well.

Eh?
I removed the .txt off the second file.
I replaced the second .avi on the first file with a .001

HJsplit them together. Everything works perfectly.

Good to hear, I just looked at them, didn't try to mess with 'em as I was messing around trying to get windows media player to play mov files. Anyone know what I need to do that? I'll go test the DivX version while I'm messing with this, since I know that I can play avis.

Or not, seems he's exceeded his daily download limit. Hehe, even if no one gives you feedback, that's a fair compliment in itself. I'll try again tomorrow.

The group limit is exceeded for the day, but as the group owner I was able
to downloaded all the files to verify they are error free.  Everything worked ok.

1) right click, save target as, let windows put whatever extension/name it wants to it
2) repeat for all 'split' files
3) in windows explorer, right click/rename/change the extension from filename.avi.xxx to filename.avi.001/.002/.003/.004 respectively
4) make sure all the files are in the same folder, along with the join32.exe program, and that these are the only files in the folder with .001-.0xx extensions.
5) run join32.exe (double click on it).
6) the file should be joined in the same folder as filename.avi

I have wondered why some have problems.  I played around a bit and did find this;

In windows explorer click on tools/folder options/view.
Make sure 'Hide  file extensions for known file types' is UNCHECKED.
if this is not UNCHECKED it does not matter what you rename a file.
if windows thinks it knows the appropriate association for a file type,
it will automatically re-assign the extension, even after you rename the file.

I think this applies to W98/ME (never looked at 2000 or XP yet, but there are probably similar type settings).

If that fails rename them in DOS.

Hope this helps !

Hey Number6, here's something you can try out if  you use a Windows operating system (there's probably a way to do the same for Macs, but I wouldn't know.)

Open up an Explorer window and select "Folder Options" from the View menu.  Then click on the View tab and make sure that the option "Hide file extensions for known file types" is not checked.  Save changes if required.

When you now browse the folder where you've saved the AVI files, you should see the file extensions and you'll be able to edit them as if you would normally edit a file name.

Hope this helps.

Don't they teach basic computer skills in school now?  Hell, I'm an old fart that started out with IBM 340 Assembly language and graduated to Burroughs CANDE and DC ALGOL and even I know how to save a file as a different file name, much less how to display extensions.  Is this generation that ignorant of how a computer works?  I loathe the day that DOS 3.3 went away!

I have to say this is a really great piece of work StudioZ -you really managed to catch the style of an interview. The talking was pretty damned good for a program and the dialogue is just what a mammophile wants to hear.

The animation was some of the best that I've seen from Poser, very smooth and high quality - and the bit where she pushes her immense bosom together to deepen her cleavage.

I don't think it's an issue of not knowing how to rename a file. But when I see the person who uploaded the file has the wrong extension on something that was split into 4 pieces, I'm not the sort who assumes that I can fix it on my end. Especially since I've played wit splitting programs and I know that they do sometimes corrupt the files they split.

"When you assume you make an ass of you and me". Yup, and I proved the statement true. I admit it.

Anyway I viewed it finally. Very nice stuff. Good voice acting too from whomever did the work for you. You did a much better job matching the sounds to her mouth motions that most people's first efforts that I've seen marked as such. I enjoyed it quite a lot. Thanks for sharing it!

Thanks for the compliments Seelie.

Actually I thought the mouth movements were mediocre, there are a few places where the timing is wayyy off.  I did them all manually, and really need to get the Mimic program for doing more talkies.

Actually the Gwen character voice is computer generated.  It came from www.scansoft.com.  The only real voices are mine at the intro, time/pitch stretched and the scene early on where she kind of looks up at the camera.  I was trying to simulate a crowd of people, like the camera crew, but it did not turn out to well.

Thank you all!  I didn't know how to set my Windows so that I could alter the file types...your advice really helped!  Needless to say, I am a computer novice when it comes to knowing anything above the most basic functions...those basic functions being: internet browsing, changing desktop themes/settings, writing documents/spreadsheets, and looking at porn.  When I first got my computer a few years back, I didn't even know I could right-click to save images for a good four or five months.  But perhaps I've revealed too much about my stupidity in these matters...anyway, thanks again for the pointers, and also for the great video file!
Be seeing you...

That's interesting. you got vastly better performance from their products than they use on their demos for advertising. I just checked their realspeak demos and the voice breaks up, pauses at totally bizarre times, and just doesn't sound like a person. Can you mess with the output to change the timing and stuff like that?
