Yeah I agree with you, they're optimistic about finishing all 10,000 in July. That's 333 pages read and scored per day every day even weekends and holidays. I don't think they have the staff left to pull this off since they fired so many people a few months back. I think it'll be late August by the time they finally finish wading through them all.

uhhhmmm... As far as I can tell they pushed the review process a whole month. So maybe Aug 3rd.

Me I haven't looked at my submission once so it's proabably a good thing my chances are so small. I'd have to finish the next submission under the gun...

Here's the full text of the latest news
In reply to:

Because of the large volume of proposals sent in to Wizards of the Coast as part of our search for a new fantasy setting, we will be notifying by the end of August those people who will be asked to go on to the second round of proposals.

We apologize for the continued delay; however, we want to give each proposal fair consideration in our efforts to find the very best possible setting for future roleplaying games, novels, miniatures, and card games.

We'd like to thank in advance the submitters of nearly 11,000 proposals for their enthusiasm and creativity. We were overwhelmed by the quantity of their inspired submissions, and want to do right by them.

Oh snap!

I wonder did it ever make it to 4th edition?

And...

Do people play D&D anymore?

I'm fairly certain that there's a 4th Edition Player's Guide for Eberron, with a couple of races and classes from that setting.  Never played it, but I seem to recall seeing it on a shelf at a bookstore.

Do you mean the original 1st edition of D&D, or are you just inquiring if people play any version of the game?  I would play (preferably something in 3rd/4th edition), but haven't had the time lately.  And I was never entirely thrilled with 1st edition, though it can prove entertaining.
be seeing you...

I came in when it was AD&D (2nd edition? ...pardon me for not knowing the nomeclature) while I was still a k1d and not yet getting my eager/otherwise idle hands on that soft delicious breast-flesh. I haven't played any edition/version/permutation of it since getting my mitts on that aforementioned breastage, but I suppose I'd not be opposed to dipping my toe in the water a couple decades later.

What do you say? Tuesday nights at my house? I'll provide the beer.

I played 1st & 2nd edition back in the 80s & 90s before moving on to other things. Both were excellent.

Restarted with 3rd just before they abandoned it & found it even better.

Switched to 4th last year and absolutely hated it. No interest in playing it again at all.

Went gratefully back to 3rd.

I played Advanced D&D (2nd ed) and a bit of 3rd and 3.5. Liked AD&D, hated the others. It turned into a tedious game with grids and hexagons and models and all sorts of other Warhammer-inspired crap.
