PeEVEed page 15
« on: June 29, 2002, 01:03:12 PM »
I tried something new for this flashback page, but had to over-optimize it to get it under 200k.  I had thought about using gray fills for Pulse #5, but I think that I shouldn't until I find a way to end up with a smaller file.  There's also a new pic of Tifa as a Blue Mage, it was posted in the UG a few days ago if you've already seen it.

I've been trying to redesign the inner pages of the website.  The problem is that I can't ge the tables to work out the way that I want.  They are almost right, but there are a few annoying bugs I can't seem to fix.

After investigating, I noticed that the problem with the tables only shows up in IE, not Communicator, and not iCab (the other browsers I have installed).  IE must read tables differently than the other two.

Here's a new version of the page that explains the rating on the site, it's a good example of the problem.

In IE (possibly also in other browsers I haven't tested), there is a (unwanted) large amount of extra space below the text in every table.

I don't see that problem in my IE -- I'm running IE 5.5, SP2.  Is this a problem with an old version?

See attachment for screen display.

I'm using the Mac IE 5.1 (which is the newest version that can run in MacOS 9.2.2).  They are made by completely different teams, so they would end up being like totally different browsers. So far, it seems to only affect the Mac IE.  If it works for the Windows IE, that covers about 90% of internet users.  It must be a bug in IE, not the pages.  I've attached a screenshot showing what the problem looks like.
