I remember a quote from Bill Watterson that his comic strip was "the adventures of a hallucinatory seven-year-old" or something like that.  I thought, wow, millions of people amused by a deranged comic strip character.

Calvin and Hobbes was awesome too, and I have those posted all over my wall as well...both were works of sheer genius. But I prefer Bloom County/Outland, maybe just for the fact that its so much rarer to find other people who've even HEARD of it these days...

Bloom County was sheer brilliance, and very funny.

C&H was clever, and damn funny.

Both had geniuses for creators, agreed.

Trivium:  did you know that Watterson never approved any merchandising?  Thought it cheapened his work.  So any C&H stuff you see is counterfeit (esp. those annoying "Calvin peeing on Chevrolet/Ford/whatever" you see on the rear window of rednecks' trucks)
