That must be odd having the implant compress during pectoral flexing.

The medical term for it is 'encapsulation'. Its a process where the body eventually reacts to the silicone in the body and forms a dense fibrous layer of tissue around it. this has the effect of making the boob become hard as well as the skin around starting to wrinkle up as the implant shrinks slightly. The recommended treatment is either removal of the implant (boo-hiss) or replacement with new one (hurrah!). The average silicone implant has a ten year life span before removal/replacement is recommended. However in some women it can be much shorter. Take for example Jordan (Katie Price), she is a British page 3 model, she has had 3 implant ops, and is now approx 32FF or thereabouts. In some pictures if you look carefully you can see the beggining of the encapsulation process. Bad news if you like natural looking tits but no so bad if you like the big fucking fake hooters look. Do they still try to eliminate encapsulation by pressing hard on the breast until the implant bursts through the layer of fiberous tissue around it?  I've heard that when the layer breaks, there's sometimes a sound.

Dear God I hope not! That sounds horrific! I can't begin to imagine what damage that would do. No as far as I know the recommended treatment is remove +/- replace

Actually, that sounds like what you're supposed to do after you first get the implants. Sometimes you need to massage the breasts until....something...breaks and the implants settle like normal.

This isn't the same as encapsulation.

Yes I've read about this too. You're supposed to massage the breast hard enough "break up" this fiberous tissue that wants to form around the implant. After all, it's a foreign object in the body, and the body is natually going to try to protect itself from it, or reject it, unless pulverized into accepting it.

As for the wrinkle or fold lines, Pandora Peaks has this bad and I always attributed it to the foreign object (the implant) hanging like a dead weight inside the skin of the breast. Unlike with a natural breast, which is weighted with connective tissues and glands and what-not, pushing and pulling but evenly connected and part of the body. So natural sagging may cause stretch marks, or other aethetically unpleasant sights, but not the kind of stress lines (wrinkles, folds) caused by having a heavy orb inside the breast pulling it to earth.

That is one of the reasons that I want textured, submuscular implants.

From the "Did you know?" file:

According to a documentary a while back on PBS, the big scare about breasts implants being a contributor to breast cancer is absolutely false.  Docs (somewhere) have concluded a monitored study of some kind of animal, wherein they placed implants and introduced unnaturally high levels of carcinogens into the breasts.

The result was that the presence of the implant caused the body to crank up the antibodies and fight off the cancer.  Probably the fibrous tissue mentioned above was also a contributor.

I don't remember the exact stats, but the presence of developed tumors in the implanted subjects was significantly less than in non-implanted subjects, and no change between control non-implanted and control implanted subjects.

I wonder if the stats from that study are online anywhere...I didn't see it at implantinfo.com...

Actually, as I heard it - it wasn't so much the antibodies but the pressure they exerted or something. I'm not sure but either way, it's good news for implant users all around.

Actually, I think it was some type of rodentia.

Ten - I distinctly remember the high localized level of antibodies being mentioned - that doesn't mean that that was it, though...I can't remember enough of the details...Darn, I wish I could find that study...

Yes, I remember that part too - but as I recall that was a reaction to a foreign body into the body itself and after time would drop off. Of course I could be wrong - or it could simply be that scientific opinion varies on the matter.
