Inspired by an appealing vidcap (see attachment) at the Breasts in Movies page run by BoobWatch_1, I rented "Paprika" (aka Life in a Brothel) and only 5 minutes into the film, I frankly couldn't believe that I'd never heard of it before.

A frothy Italian sex comedy for adults from "Caligula" director Tinto Brass, "Paprika" is set in Italy of the not-too-distant past and the main character (Paprika, played by the stunning Deborah Caprioglio) is the new girl at the local bordello. Even without subtitles (I don't speak Italian, regretably) the plot is pretty simple: Paprika's erotic trials and tribulations at the brothel and elsewhere.

Most shocking (for some) I suppose will be how delightful women looked before implants and stairmaster-equipped personal trainers were the norm for young actresses. Deborah Caprioglio is reminiscent of Fawn Miller, or perhaps Patti Farinelli (if she'd indulged in a bit more pasta) and is simply feminine desire personified on two (shapely) legs. She's wearing little or nothing at all for most of the film, and is a pleasure to watch (especially in motion). No exaggeration is needed to say that she makes even the 'biggest' of today's young actresses and pop singers (including JLH, JC, SMG, BS and CA) look flat-chested, anorexic and even boyish in comparison.

Essentially softcore enteratinment, Paprika stops short of actual penetration and is, IMHO, amusing and entertaining... the camera work is competent and the score complimentary if you care about such things. I suspect however, that after witnessing Paprika in the flesh (oh, such abundant flesh!) you'll be hard-pressed to remember much else (no pun intended).

If you can find it, it's definitely worth renting. Kudos and many thanks to BoobWatch_1 for providing such a fine public service and bringing this to our attention.

I'd also like to second the recommendation for Romaine Bohringer in "Total Eclipse of the Sun" ...an annoying movie (with Leonardo DiCaprio playing a spoiled egotist, how could it not be?) but RB's extensive  nudity and Euro-perfected, anti-Barbie, slim-and-stacked form make this a definite must-see. Such substantial, womanly breasts on an ottherwise-waifish frame make for a stunning visual contrast that puts many better known but lesser endowed actresses to shame.

Thanks for the most excellent review.  This one has been on my rental list for a long time but alas, Blockbuster has seemingly censured such fabulous tittertainment.  Guess I'll have to suck it up and buy a copy off of eBay.

Incidentally, from what I can tell from eBay listings, there are both censored and uncensored versions of the film floating around.  Not sure what the difference is, so caveat emptor.

BTW, I haven't forgotten the Danuta clip I had promised...just got kinda busy.  Will get it soon.

You're welcome and thanks for the good advice. The version I watched was uncensored as far as I could tell... there were no blurs, bars or odd edits. The only way it could have been more graphic would have been to show full actual penetration w/genitals/mouth which it did not (this would have required complete OTHER versions of some scenes... not impossible but still....)

Unless it's obvious, I'm not sure that I'd simply take an eBay seller's word for it as to what kind of copy they have... they might not know the differences themselves. There's even a DVD of it available (!, this is definitely a film you'd prefer on DVD!) right now on eBay but it doesn't say anything about what kind of version it is. The cover art does look like it has kanji characters on it in addition to english, which makes me think that it's intended for the asian market and as far as I know, Japanese erotica almost allways has pubic hair blurred out (and there's an awful LOT of pubic hair in this movie) so buyer beware. From the boxcover pix on eBay, some have '18' stamped on them, some don't, there are language differences, etc.... Good luck!

If anyone knows more about this movie (versions, etc...) or knows of a really good comprehensive source for info about different versions of films, let us know. Thanks.

Well, I don't want to venture into hyperbole, but after another viewing, "Paprika" is certainly a contender for The Best Film Ever Made for breastmen IMHO. Short of pure porn that is. Such a marvel... such unabashed pulchritude... such jiggle and wobble! Surely, there can't be too many other movies that offer such opportunities in so much abundance.

Yes, I like Russ Meyer films too, and Delinquent Schoolgirls and The Big Gag http://us.imdb.com/Title?0096924 will allways have a place in my heart... but Paprika actually makes me want to learn Italian and move to Italy (or at least to the fantasy-world version of Italy where such events actually happen).

While we're on the topic of movies...

I've been renting almost every day this week (bringing with me a list from BiM of course) ...I usually go on binges like now, and then don't revisit the store for a few months. Anyhoo,

I rented "Love and Human Remains" http://us.imdb.com/Title?0107447 which is not that great a movie (unless you are really into angst-ridden Canadian 20-somethings (portrayed by 30-something actors) of varying sexual orientation) BUT as suggested I was pleasantly surprised by Ruth Marshall. While I might not classify her as quite as impressively endowed as Mimi Rogers (one viewer's comparison I read) she is buxom, natural, somewhat petite and has short dark hair (all good things IMHO). Her nude scenes aren't as long as I'd like (no surprise) but you do get a few decent glimpses of her unconstrained pillowy bosom. There's also a brief bit of tit from another young actress, who's faintly reminiscent of Thora Birch (Mia Kirshner... cute, though not as nice IMHO). And another one with puffies (Joanne Vannicola playing the lesbian Jerri). Ruth Marshall is the only one of note tho.

Worth renting if you're on a video binge like me and don't mind sitting thru an entire movie for maybe a few really interesting minutes.

OT: Sum of All Fears http://us.imdb.com/Title?0164184 was predicatble, badly written and mundane. Even 15 seconds of expensive effects couldn't redeem this stinker. Of course, there are those that might say the same thing about a couple minutes worth of boobs in a movie, I suppose.

PPS: in getting an imdb listing for Paprika http://us.imdb.com/Title?0098063 I stumbled across a film called Anal Paprika 3: Manage-A-Death http://us.imdb.com/Title?0281591 that has a tagline of "wickedness hides in the butts of the young" ...now THAT'S funny!

I've known about Ms. Caprioglio for several years now.

Attached is perhaps the one image that I see the most whenever I look for Italian **27** or Caprioglio websites.

The first time I heard of her was in the early 90's right after Klaus Kinski died. It seems that Kinski and Debora were quite an item and there was gossip that Caprioglio had literally fucked Kinski to death. Of course these are just rumours(never proven in court) and I'll leave it at that...

I tried to get hold of the uncut European DVD of "Paprika" from Luminous Film & Videoworks late last year. But after being on backorder more than 6 months LFV finally cancelled my order. I have the film on fairly good quality VHS.

I have a few other Caprioglio movies - "Saint Tropez, Saint Tropez" and "Spiando Marina".

I have seen some fairly recent pics of Debora and she still looks fabulous.

Late night cable fare... teen movie dreck from the 80s. Buncha teens out for a prom nite trip (in a seaplane!) wind up on a deserted island and have to contend with their hormones, each other's poor acting and some bad guys.

Some minor sporadic nudity through out... most of the girls are in the B-cup range, 1 is maybe a little bigger. Nothing remarkable, unless you're really desperate for it. The blonde has some impressive nips, but that's about it. The only other thing that this film is notable for is the appearance of a young Sherilyn Fenn (20 in this movie, but looking younger). She's the only one who doesn't shed her top at some point, tho she does spend much of the film running around in a white cotton tanktop. A little bounce, but if you're that hard-up for SF, you're probably more into her later (post Twin Peaks) work. Verdict: missable, unless you're REALLY a SF fan.

You're very welcome BW1! I haven't been able to find NTSC DVDs for Paprika or any other Deborah Caprioglio movies of note. I did come across a guy who'd convert and burn NTSC DVDs from PAL DVD (for Paprika) and PAL VHS (for another DC film: St. Tropez, St. Tropez) but I haven't gone ahead with it yet since I am uncertain about the resulting quality (and my cost would equal buying the VHS tape originals).

DC is my new muse. For now anyhow.

This reminded me of another bit . . went to Breasts In Movies and didn't see it there, which I found kind of surprising.

I only saw it once, but in Serial Mom, there's a scene where an incredibly voluptuous, quite big-breasted, model is shown.

As I recall it, apparently some kid or other is getting ready to masturbate and pops in this movie that, judging from the font-type they used for the credits in it, was definitely early 70s.

At first I thought that the woman had implants, with those large spheres bulging from her bikini top, but then she takes the top off and those globes swing down to become an impressive set of pendulums.

It's been a long time, and I only saw the scene once, but I do remember being stunned.

People today would probably say to her to tone up and hit the gym, and I'd be there saying "You better darn well NOT do any such thing!"

Well, anyway, I was going to give a brief synopsis of what was going on and why this scene of the guy watching the movie was played for laughs, and then I realized that I don't entirely remember what led up to it.  In any case, the end result was that this guy wasn't doing what everyone thought, and when people stormed in, he was in the midst of doing his thing, and, well, caught everyone quite off-guard.

A really strange but funny moment, that I'm not at ALL conveying right because I can only remember fragments of it.

I never saw Serial Mom (that's a John Waters movie, right?) so I haven't seen the clip you mention. I'm sure it's on the net somewhere (though hunting for it could take as much time as just going out and renting the movie). From what you describe, my response woud be the same as yours: don't touch a thing! Yes, I've like and have nothing against hardbodies, provided that the proportions we all (breastmen) enjoy so much are intact... however, a little extra body fat on a woman is not necessarily a bad thing either. Given a choice between 10 or even 20 pounds over or under the "ideal" weight, I almost always prefer the 'over' side. Just looks better... more curves, more padding (hopefully in the right places), just plaing MORE!

If you haven't seen DC in Paprika... rent it... you will NOT regret it... truly the best such film I've ever seen.
