What do you consider "Morphing" to be?
« on: November 06, 2002, 10:00:27 AM »
I understand that for the purpose of the fourm and to stay on topic it should somehow have to do with breast expansion but what exactly is considered a "morphed" picture?

For example there are a million pics with the head of a lady put on the body of a lady with big boobs. Is that a morphed pic?

Or once for fun I did a pic of Elizabeth from Survivor and did not make her breasts larger but rather made her Survivor bare midriff top into a "see-thru" top. Is that a morphed pic?

Or does it have to be taking the pic and distorting it to make it expand etc, to be considered "morphed"?

I am just curious. Thanks to all who take the time to reply.

Yes, it is a morphed picture.  On topic for ugallery display here?  Maybe.  I'd be the last person to turn away a "fun" picture.

Maybe I'm not the best teacher of word's meaning (either 'cause I'm not usual english speaking and 'cause I'm not a master) but I have got a couple of ideas about your subject.

MORPHING: it is the changement from a form to another form. So if you have got an apple and you turn it into a banana, that's morphing. I think we misuse this word: 'cause if we make a video of this changement we show a morph. What we usually do with single pics is
WARPING: that means to stretch or to stress a part of an image. Warping is, in my theory, like the single frame of a morphing video. The single image, the single part of a body that we enlarge (here at bea the boobs, somewhere else the legs or the cocks, etc) is warped. If we make a video where a flat chested girl turns into a big busted girl, AND we show this changement, this is morphing. Because it is the chengement from a form into another form. Obviuosly the edge between morph an warp is really light. Because you can always say that if I change somebody's breast I turn her body form into some other form, so that's morphed. So i could say that, when I do my work on pics, I don't do morphing but I do warping. But when I have my work finished I don't know if that pic is warped or morphed. The process is warping and not morphing; the object we obtain by that process I don't know if I can say that's warped or that's morphed or both of them (I think both of them, 'cause tehy are both correct: warped becuase comes from a warping process; morphed because it is the changement of a form).

Then we have:
FAKING: making a fake is when you take a girl's face and put it over someone else's body.
RETOUCHING: When you make the t-shirt to become transparent. Here you don't transform any form, just change the look.

There is much discusson on this in many forums outside the BEA.  One, the Vixen Controled Library (a furry art archive), had a lenthy discussion about it.

For me when dealing with a static image, morphing is the modification by any means of an existing image to create a new image.  "Airbrushing" images falls into this category.

Yo,
Here's a stretch for you:

We put endomorph breasts (and sometimes hips etc.) on an ectomorph
or mesomorph body.  Call all that a "morph" for short.

Yeah, it's BS, but I tried...

(either 'cause I'm not usual english speaking and 'cause I'm not a master) For me you are Blax, no mather what others think. Its in the eye of the beholder.
I like your work.
To be honest PI, StStephan UkMorpher and a lot others are very skilled have other styles but I look at it with a different vision. Your work is good and you deserve 5 stars.
greetings.......

I would say morphing at its broadest is just using a computer program (like Photoshop or Paintshop Pro) to digitally alter a given image. Around here, that tends to mean enlarging the breasts, or ocassionally some other secondary characteristics (legs, ass, lips) as well.

But like you say there are other ways to do this, with head and body fakes, clothing alteration, et cetera. Personally I would consider this morphing too, just as a convenient catch-all term.

If I recall correctly, the word "morph" doesn't even really match its conventional usage; it's used to mean change or alter, but it really means "form" or something like that. The "meta" in metamorphisis is the actual change part of the word, but everybody uses it that way. (I could be wrong on this ... the ever-erudite St. Stephan would probably be the one to ask.)

So anyways, point being, it's all just a matter of how you want to define it.

Whenever, I create My  Before & After Images. And, then place those Images, into my animation program, to create a Breast Expansion sequence. The program itself gives you the option to Morph, or Warp an Image. I think people mistake the word  Morph & Warp  from some of the Morphing Programs that people use these days. They, both do the same thing somewhat. But, one option always works better than the other. The program I use gives you two other options to use. Which, are very good options to use also. I generally agree with NC.  I would say that my position is that "morphing" is, for the use of this discussion, ANY perceptible change in the content of an image, whether still or moving, not including resizing or cropping.

I view the terms "faking" "warping" and "retouching" as more specific terms for "morphing."  It's all "editing' "modifying" and "manipulating."

Ta!

Well tdv, thank you for gentle words. But, when I was talking about being a master, I didn't mean technical skills, but the years of experience. I'm not sure about Pii and UKM (I'm not sure if they are newcommers like me - thier names seems almost new to me - or if they are "old" morphers), but I was referring to people like Imaginos, St Stephan and the others moderators at BEA or those who are on the scene by years, like Dr. Bust, Col.Morphermor etc...
'cause probably they have been talking about this subject for a long time.
About technical skills, UKM and Pii have a couple of performances I'm still far from (I always admaior how they make clean edges and bright colors, ie). Sometimes I do something good too and I'm improving. Just a matter of time. St. Stephan?...well St. Stephan sucks.
(NO, I'm just kidding with the austroyankee, he's great! Ciao Bel! )

As for me, I think Blax made an interesting and relevant distinction by introducing the word: 'warp'.  When i first began visiting the BEA, i found the use of the word: 'morph' a bit perplexing....since then i've just got use to it and use it as a matter of convenience.  I think it's more accurate to call what most of us do most of the time 'warping'...we use various distortion techniques to augment and enhance certain characteristics of the female form, breasts being the main thrust of attack, other changes being secondary considerations.

When some of us voyage into the realms of fantasy like the butterflies, angels, mermaids, etc, that is genuine 'metamorphosis'.  And going beyond that i'll pose a sub-question.....who is the father of morphing, or metamorphosis imagery?  My vote would be Dali, both with his paintings, and also with his work in the early surrealistic films of Bunuel.  Any other votes or names?

Someway, we have many examples of morphing in licterature (strating from Iliade - I don't know the english name- and Odissey untill my co-citizen Ludovico Ariosto). In painture maybe I could name Jeronimus Bosch, but I agree with Jayjay that our common and most direct father is Dalì. On the other hand, as well as mediteranean surrelism - so Dalì- is our point of referrement for the paints, I'd like also to name norther-europe surrealism artists, and Magritte overall, as our conceptual fathers: in Magritte's art surrealism is the union of two (or more) real things which, once they are united, form something that's evidently not real but neither unreal. It is surreal, that means over the reality, it leads you to a upper level of reality. In Dalì's art surrealism is more the world of dreams, something which is sureley more "unreal". So we come, in my opinion, from both of these artists: from Magritte because we start from two "real" things - a girl's body on a side and tits on the other side - making a surreal thing - a girl with impossible tits. But you know, as in Dalì...they are our dreams.

Ah, I add Man Ray too!
