Joi will correct me if I'm wrong, Monique, but I am fairly sure that that last picture that she posted above is a morph.

Joi, do you know if Dolly Parton's sister, Rachel Dennison (another sister is Stella, who's small-busted), ever had breast enhancement?  When she was in the short-lived TV version of 9 to 5, she was of about the same dimensions as sister Dolly was at the time (fatter than now).

Great quotes from Dolly:

About her boobs: "I've always said I don't know if I'm supporting them or they're supporting me."

"You'd be surprised how much it costs to look this cheap!"

"I'm not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes because I know I'm not dumb... and I also know that I'm not blonde."

"I look just like the girls next door... if you happen to live next door to an amusement park."

....rejoicing in the fullness thereof....

I got caught up on this in my reply to the "Bouncing Beats" post.

It's well known to folks around here that late 1986 brought an end to an important era for breast lovers world wide. It was around this time that Dolly Parton underwent her dramatic weight loss transforming herself from the textbook definition of buxom, to a still shapely but considerably downsized living doll whose wigs outsized everything else. This was a classic case of poor timing as she unveiled her new physique on her heavily hyped 1987 ABC variety show Dolly. Horndogs everywhere tuned in expecting to see the famous and infamous 42DD pair of knockers bulging across their 27" Zeniths and immediately tuned out when a subdued 36D was the best they could provide. Of course, since then Parton subjected herself to a number of augmentations and lifts in a fairly sucessful attempt to regain her former glory. I say fairly sucessful because the "Whoahs" that you get from softball implated "Straight Talk" Dolly have nothing on the   HOLY SHIT !!! 's you got from "9 to 5", "Rhinestone" and "Whorehouse" Watermelon Dolly. Proof positive that though "Bigger is Better","Naturally Big" will always trump "Unnaturally Big".

That said, think of all the women who gave walked the earth through history. Think of how long that history is!

At this point I need a nerd to give a ballpark estimate on the number of women who've walked the Earth in recorded history. My point is X Billions of Women equals 2X Billions of breasts bouncing through recorded history. (Discounting of course, the Amazons who shared one pair for every two women. Oh snap!) That's a lot of women!!!

Historically though think about it , no other women in ancient history women had historically big breasts. Not Cleopatra, Joan Of Ark, Helen of Troy, no one. If Mary Magdalene could fill out a robe, this was omitted from my Bible (it would also explain a lot!). An old trivia book of mine notes that Marie Antoinette was packing a pair of 42's which would make for an awesome day at the guillotine. Fast forward to modern history.
18th Century:
"Busty" Betsy Ross-takes time out from repairing her busted corsets and fighting off Ben Franklins' advances to design the stars and stripes.
19th century:
Nothing, save the Mary Todd Lincoln "BE" episode of the WB's "Desmond Pfeiffer".

Which brings us to the 20th century and the tit culture explosion therein. First up, Mae West, known at the time for being merely full-figured, nothing notable beyond a nod fom our armed forces renaming their life vest flotation devices "Mae Wests" (back me up old timers). Then a true boob giant, literally and figuratively, Jane Russell who truly sparked America's undergroung obsession after appearing in 'The Outlaw" a role, a pair so big that producer Howard Hughes spent a good part of the budget designing Russells outfits and undergarments.

Even her contribution was eclipsed by the vastly overrated physiques of Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield, both remarkable but both soon blown out the water by imports Anita Ekberg (possibly the biggest mainstream ever, though she was censored through most of her "shine time") and Sophia Loren (who faced competition from Gina Lollobrigida, who never escaped Loren's considerable shadows).

Tragically tastes soon changed again , inspite of Raquel Welch and Pam Grier each putting their best uh, foot forward, the deflated physiques of Twiggy, Farrah Fawcett, Bo Derek, etc.set the theme for most of the 80's and into the nineties, where voluptuousness made a minor comeback, but only the Playboy variety.

Which brings me back to the Legendary pair of Mams that descended from the mountains of Tenessee in the late 60's and captured the imagination of the Globe since then. No other name has been so inseperably connected to breasts like Dolly Parton. Think of the hundreds of monologues, hundreds of jokes, cross references (i.e. she's big, but she's no Dolly Parton) and comparisons. And were talking billions of breasts here! Sure, she's never been the biggest, but the biggest mainstream. And I  doubt that Chelsea, Maxi and Linsey will ever become household names. And sure, big tit jokes and monologues now focus on Pam Anderson and Britney but those are only implant jokes. I aslo take into consideration that it's Parton's remarkable singing talent that brought the "Pair from God" into the spotlight and kept them there. I dont particularly like country music, but I love Dolly Parton.

They're going to be writing about Dolly's Tits for years y'all. There's Goliath's height, Cleopatra's beauty, Napoleon's Short, Einstein's genius and Dolly's Tits.

But Profesor Mercer, what about J-Lo's booty?

Errr, class dismissed.

J-Lo?!?!

thats not a booty; Scarlett is a booty. J just happens to have a nice "ass" but she steadily tries to downplay it; I am of the opinion that had she stayed "around the way", there'd be some more meat and less bone to those hips ( give that gal a steady diet of pernil and sweet plantains THEN you'll see a booty on that chick)

but i digress ; i was in a hormonal fog when i first saw dolly in "9 to 5" bending down to pick up those pencils that Mr. Hart dropped ... accidentally.

but the "still-dressed-but-drive-you-out-of-your-mind" award goes to Lisa Lisa emerging from that subway **103** in that pink top.....

omigod

now thats an "around the block" girl.
it was a crime to shrink those.

Too important a thread to ignore!

Agreed 100 percent.  Dolly of the 1975-1982/3 period deserves icon status.  She was during that period proof positive tha"voluptuous" was not a dirty word.  Another term that might have applied:  Junoesque (disregard the fact that Dolly is short--the essence of this term is being built like a brick sh*thouse).

Following are a few of my favorite Dolly pics/caps.  Note all are from the era in question, when she had some "voluptuosity" to her.  Like SNL's George W., that's my version of "strategery".....
