Topless dancers were barely recognisable under elaborate body paint as they stripped for a street festival in Valparaiso city, Chile.

The annual carnival sees dancers strip on the streets so artists can paint elaborate designs on their bare chests before they parade through the city.

One local onlooker joked: "Ay caramba! I haven't seen so many topless babes since our bra and blouse factory mysteriously went up in flames."

The annual street festival is dedicated to free and better state education, racial tolerance and against discrimination.

Emerging artists use the festival to promote their work.
