I've always wondered do American like the british and stuff we do in britain. (comedy, musci band ...etc)

Ive always wanted to go to America i think America is coool.

The problem is quantity, I think... In America to be taken seriously, you basically need to be pitching for syndication and hence well get... (unless you crash and burn) probably 20 episodes... Mostly, British shows struggle for 8...

I rather think it a concession to the Canadians that Doctor Who runs 45ish minutes and is 13 episodes a season - so it might more easily pass to the American market.

Anyway, the way American TV raped The Office shows that American network executives don't want America sullied by non-American shows... Just so awful...

Everyone I know wishes they could leave America and move to England.

Why?  Mainly to get away from George W. Bush, but also, England is so much better in many ways...

the British girls are cuter, funnier, and have bigger boobs.

British music is always better than American crap.

England hasn't been taken over by Spanish-speaking media and culture.

English politians are held accountable (unlike American politicians).

English people are smarter and more civilized than Americans.

English patriotism = "we saved the world's ass in WWII by refusing to surrender to a bigger, stronger, better-financed Nazi German force"

American patriotism = "let's go invade other countries under false pretenses and piss off every other country with our pretentious asshattery!"

England = Beatles  
America = The Monkees  

England = Monty Python  
America = Martin  

England = the Mini-cooper  
America = the Hummer (compensation for tiny penis syndrome)

England = persecuted the Irish (I mean... c'mon, they obviously deserved a lot of that)  
America = persecuted the Indians  


I wish I could move to England and renounce my American citizenship.

England = universal healthcare
America = if you're rich, you live the good life... if you're poor, you die early or live out the rest of your life in bankruptcy from medical bills

Love the Brit music,LOVE British candy bars(you MUST try the Yorkie),like(not love) British food,love British comedy and television in general.
As a photography lover,I've noticed the magazines have higher quality photos,EXCEPT in tabloids,where the photos are deliberately crap.
In terms of music and fashion,the Brits aren't afraid of going in for a penny in for a pound and looking to only please some of the people all of the time.Non-conformity isn't treason to them.Here in America,if you're too much out of the norm,you're demonized.

I'm English, but I've been to the US many times.

I love the US.

They do some things better than us - but we do some stuff better than them.

Please don't shoot me for this, but.

Houses in the states are generally poorer quality than you'd find in the UK.

But, on the other hand, although its not perfect, I'd prefer a republican England, similar to federal USA.  We used to have one in the late 1600's (Cromwell).

Gun crime is something which less of an issue here, you'll very unlikely to be shot in the UK.  On the other hand, you don't have the same right to defend you property here as they do there.

Health care is free here - you have to pay stateside.  But then, the care you get is probably better in the US than here. (unless you pay here, which you can do)

In the end - you pays your money and you makes your choice.

But we are more similar than we are different.

PS, if you were to pin me down as to where I'd live - probably Australia.  Good old working class English culture, but with space.

The Romans were in control here (England) for 400 years - British law is heavily based on Latin.

I don't agree that the English are smarter and more civilized - we have the same cross section of  society you do, you'd see what I mean if you visited.

One thing I would say for the English, is their worldliness - because of the British Empire, there is a knowledge of the outside world that I think is lacking in the US.

I agree a little about British women - but they are not all funny and have big boobs - many are right bitches and don't have any tits to speak of.

I agree with MasterDragonfly -- it's a nice mix.  

When I flew through London Gatwick 3 times in 2 1/2 years from the start of 2004 to late summer 2006, the same message was in place, so I'll quote it here.

It sounded seriously like John Cleese.  "Please do not leave your baggage unattended.  If you shall leave your baggage unattanded, it will be confiscated and, quite possibly, (both pauses overly long) destroyed.

I dunno, Bill. Living on the West Coast almost makes me bi-lingual, and dirty jokes are way cooler in Mexican. I used to work with a crew of Mexicans; after learning a few noun endings, I discovered that if you change the noun ending on "boss" it translated as "uninseminated cow". But you have to understand that Mexican and Spanish really are separating, a lot like English and American.
