Anveshi Jain. Some may not consider her Asian since she is not from East Asia like most on this thread, but remember, India is not only the most populous country on Earth, it is also the most populous in Asia. I grew up calling East Asians as Oriental but that is now considered an obsolete term at best. So, I think she belongs here.

We may be running into a US/UK English discrepancy here. As I understand it, "Asian" in American English speakers usually refers to East Asia (China, Japan, etc.), whereas in British English, "Asian" usually connotes South Asia (India, Pakistan, etc).

Can any non-US anglophones shed more light on this?

"Asian" means "from any country on the continent of Asia, or the associated islands close enough to the continent".

That includes the People's Republic of China, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, etc.

That also includes countries like Israel, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, the United Arab Emirates, etc. which are often grouped as being "in the middle east," and also include some of the closer island nations such as the Philippines. 

That would also include India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.

In the UK, people from the latter section of Asia are commonly called "Asian". Hence why the BBC has a station called "the BBC Asian Network" which features news and entertainment focusing on desi people.

In the USA, where people are in general fairly geographically-illiterate, they would refer to the denizens of countries in the first group as being "really Asian," and have to be constantly reminded that desi people (India, Pakistan, etc.) are also Asian. This comedic exchange between Indian-American comedian Hasan Minhaj and Malaysian-Chinese-Australian comedian Ronnie Chieng typifies this attitude.

The more sophisticated United States citizens would refer to people from China, Japan, the Koreas, etc. as being "east Asian" - back in the day, in the UK, such people would be referred to by the now-largely-deprecated term "Oriental".

There are at least two countries that straddle the continents of Asia and Europe, namely Turkey and Russia, which means that they could be included in both.

So, in summary: as long as the woman hails from or has direct ancestry from any of the countries on the Asian continent and environs, they can be posted in this thread. Most of the time, though, this thread features women who are from "east Asia" (China, Japan, Korea, etc.) or from "southeast Asia" (Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, etc.).
