And I am reminded of the dangers of searching the internet. While perusing various sites, SpySweeper started going nuts, trying to block four trojans and something like six pieces of spyware. I think I have them disabled and mostly deleted, but now I can't run any executables (with the notable exception of IE) without disabling Windows' native 'protect my computer from unauthorized program activity' setting, which seems to me like a bad thing to disable. This also means I can't have any programs run at startup automatically, which means they can't catch anything trying to reinstall itself on boot. I also am having trouble viewing some message boards and AutoComplete has been activated in my IE and I can't turn it off. And now Trend Micro's online free virus scan crashes IE.
There are days I hate the internet. I think I'll switch to Firefox in the meantime, even though I hate hate hate tabbed browsing.
