I will give Q_BE this: even though he is flat-out wrong and even though he was swearing at me and even though he was asking me to do unmentionable physical things to myself (such as walking a mile in Sarah Palin's shoes -- I take a size 16E), at least unlike JJ he tried to assemble some points in favor of his position. That's what it means to argue, and that is why I shall even bother to try to dig myself out from under that barrage of insults sprinkled with a few nuggets of assumption and incorrect leaps of logic, and counter them. But first, some levity:

I thought it was common knowledge that Daddy help George Bush graduate from Yale, that he was really a "C" average student in High School, and they let him pass with ease while he drank and party his way thru school and the military. I object that George Bush really qualify as a Yale grad that got into this mess. I would even compliment Sarah Palin as being more apt at public speaking than George Bush. Overall though I would also say that Sarah Palin is a female version of George Bush. I would ask why would we want someone like Sarah Palin in the white house, after all didn't 8 years of empty rhetoric of the cowboy with a rifle got us into this mess in the first place?

Walk a mile in her shoes before you step all over her. Sarah Palin was unheard of before that moderate maverick, John S. McCain, picked her to be his running mate. I surmise that she might have remained in Alaska in perpetuity because she was happy there, getting things done. It wasn't until she was thrown to the media wolves by her own campaign that her family was turned into a political football--and NOT by her.

What the majority of the American people now see in Sarah Palin is the polar opposite of the man who currently occupies the Oval Office--someone with established executive experience in government and in the private sector, who takes responsibility for her duties both to her family and to the state and nation in which she lives. The way I see it, the more the media makes an issue of Sarah Palin, the more attractive a candidate she makes for a nation desperately in need of real hope and change--hope that the nation isn't being summarily destroyed by malice or incompetence, and a change in the relationship of the Washington establishment to the people who they are supposed to represent.

Slamming Palin because she takes issue with thinly veiled insults to her and her special-needs toddler is the same as slamming Barack Obama's children simply because they are fat (according to Michelle "My Belle" Obama), which I have never claimed to do, and have never advocated anyone else to do.

Take yourself and your appalling lack of scruples and decorum out of this thread post-haste. You're only damaging your own cause by defending the point.

Wah wah wah...supermajorities in the House and Senate AND a sitting President, and you can't get anything done? Cry me a freakin' river. It's not like the American people want anything to get done anyway. From all the Porkculus bills running through Congress since 2007, to TARP, PAYGO, the Healthcare Monstrosity, Cap-and-Tax, the Jobless Bill, and all these other nonsensical sacks of shit you call legislation, absolutely nothing has stopped or prevented millions of jobs lost, unemployment in the double digits (closer to 20% counting those who gave up searching), inflation set to skyrocket 16% this year, inaction on clean nuclear power, kickbacks to unions, and recently the creation of a blue-ribbon panel to assess the nation's fiscal mess created by none other than Barack Obama himself (aka duck-and-cover for tax increases on EVERYBODY).

Need I mention that tax revenues this year will equal spending levels prior to 2007 when Pelosi and the Spend-o-Crats came into congressional power following the 2006 elections? Please tell me how bad it was in 2007 when we only spent $2 Trillion? Think about it--reversing all spending levels to 2007 markers would balance the budget TODAY. Give me even ONE legitimate economic marker that has improved in our nation since 2007 with the creation of a $1.5 Trillion ($1,500,000,000,000) deficit every year into the foreseeable future by the Congressional Democrats and Barack Hussein Obama (Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm!)?

If that is what you call bipartisanship, you can shove that so far up your rectum it comes out your oral cavity. I'm absolutely astounded by your intellectual bankruptcy in this regard and I praise the current resiliency of the Republican Party as it stands to resist whatever it can in terms of totalitarian governmental laws.

1. Ignorant? She has more executive governmental experience and entrepreneurial common sense in her pinky than Obama in his whole body. And Obama being a Harvard grad doesn't do much for his resume, in my humble opinion...according to you, a Yale grad got us into this mess (remember George W. Bush?). I don't place any value on education credentials in government anymore.

2. Ambitious beyond her station? Let's hear from Barack Obama himself:

Talk about arrogant ambition. This man was supposed to be the "Messiah" of this nation. Has ANY of that even remotely come close to happening, and how in the hell does he plan to stem the rise of the oceans, if we even ought to accept his blatantly faulty premise in the first place?!? ::)

3. Hypocritical? Barack Obama voted for EVERY PIECE of spending legislation authorized in the Bush Adminstration's final years, and now he claims to turn around and oppose EVERY PIECE of "abhorrent spending" by the Bush Administration? Not only that, but he's DOUBLED DOWN on all that spending and tossed on at least $1 Trillion more!

4. Slightly mercenary? How many people has Obama thrown under the bus since he ran for president? Let me count the people...his pastor, Reverend Jeremiah "Goddamn America" Wright, his mentor, Bill "Weather Underground" Ayers, countless "blue-dog" congressional Democrats, the governors of Virginia and New Jersey, and even the so-called "Ted Kennedy" seat in Massachusetts for crying out loud! That is just to name a few of the people he's bulldozed, not to mention all the Chicago "thug" politics he learned and practiced in Chicago and Illinois as a state legislator (where, as Switcher points out, he voted "Present" at least 130 times).

5. Mildly RACIST?!? How you even possibly entertain the insane notion that this woman has one racist bone in her body, given the fact she ran on a political ticket against a black man, is beyond me. Even a cursory review of her memoir reveals a uniquely compassionate, truly American feminist who is smashing all the political conventional wisdom while also succeeding in a truly vociferous political climate where the powers that be are scrambling at all levels of government to maintain their feeble grips on power and control. Did I mention her husband, Todd Palin, is multiracial himself?

All I have to point out about Barack Obama in this instance is to indicate that he sat in the pews of one of the most petulantly racist, bigoted churches pastored by the nearly-psychotic Reverend Jeremiah "Goddamn America" Wright, for 20 years, to indicate that Obama has acquired, or at the very least sought advice from, people with deeply-rooted hatred for this country in general and the "white people" in particular. Take this little sermon excerpt for instance:

That quote is pure, unmitigated racism in its most vitriolic form, and Obama sat in his pews for 20 years, soaking it all up. To believe with any intellectual honesty that Sarah Palin is the real racist is to admit to such sophistry as should never see the light of day in any respectable intellectual debate.

In this way, I have demonstrated most clearly that not only is Sarah Palin NOT any of these things, it is precisely those who rail against her who seem to stand MOST guilty of the very sins she is accused--political leftists, socialists, communists, marxists and whackos. Why are these the people, dear Zookie, with whom you feel most politically aligned? I could ask that of any leftist on this board, because I fail to see how any honest appraisal of the facts could lead you to any other conclusion than that Sarah Palin, contrary to being the future evil she is portrayed to be, is actually one of the brightest hopes of a nation that desperately seeks the elimination of pure political insanity, perpetrated by an entire Democrat Party against the will of an entire nation!

Please get your head out of whatever deep, dark place it resides and open it up to the light of day. You have no standing to attack Sarah Palin, and I'm not going to take it anymore.

As a fan of unintentional comedy and a willing participant in the decay of neo-conservatism, I IMPLORE that the GOP run Palin in 2012. It would be an absolute joy every day to watch Glenn Beck and Rush's heads explode trying to figure out ways to spin her complete ineptitude. Maybe after that crushing landslide defeat, the Republican party would finally get its head out of its ass and return to real core conservative values, not the evangelical, anti-intellectual nightmare it's been for the last 30 years.

I could drone on and on about this garbage, but no one cares. Politics is all hot air being blown back and forth from one end of a room to the other. The fact that so many people get enraged about whether Obama's birth certificate is legitimate or whether Bush finished his military service or whether Palin is capable of running a 7-11 much less the most powerful nation in the world is just further proof that the people who really run this country have won. We're all so stupid and easily distracted that the real crimes against liberty and free enterprise slip right on through and no one notices, cares or understands.

Sarah Palin is clearly a boon to one demographic, comedians! After 8 years of Bush pretty much writing their material for them, everyone was going "Damn, this Obama guy is pretty slick!" and then with a "You betcha!" Palin appeared as if some boon granted by the gods to the political satirists. The fact she's now a FOX news pundit is doubtless going to keep many writers from going hungry.

Seriously though, she's had a long time to prepare herself for the media spotlight that she seems so fond of and yet even when she has the sycophantic loon Beck, giving her the easiest time imaginable - she STILL needs led through the question with regularity, there was even deja vu to her disastrous interview when Beck asked her who her favourite founding father was and her reply was "All of 'em".

Regardless of this, some people are clearly always going to shrug off any criticism levelled at her and doubtless say that she's being singled out for persecution... Still, some polls have shown 70+% of Americans don't think she's qualified to be president...

Sarah Palin's Greatest Hits

She lost all chance for respect when she couldn't come up with an answer when asked by Katie Couric what newspapers she read.

Im pretty impress with Matt Damon, and I had wonder how he became so politically aware, and as it turn out he lived next door to a history writer, and as a youth he read all of the writer transcript. Became friend with the author and learn a lot at an early age to be a thinker.

The Moron and The Mormon. I smell 80s sitcom!

All kidding aside, as a gesture of civility (a foreign concept when discussing politics, I know), I would be interested to know what specifically about Sarah Palin, both her character and her experience, uniquely qualifies her to hold high office. The key is you have to do it without attacking Obama or the democratic Congress as that proves nothing other than someone hating liberals. Which is a misnomer as the Democratic party ceased being liberal a long time ago... right, getting sidetracked. I promise I won't pick apart anybody's honest answer unless it's particularly egregious. I'm just genuinely curious about the thought process that goes into listening to what she has to say and seeing how she presents herself and determining that she is qualified to wield power in American government.

And sorry, 3D. I can't look at Matt Damon anymore without thinking of Team America. He probably is a bright guy with an informed opinion, but I can't watch him pontificate without thinking "MATT DAMON!!" loudly in my head.
