I read her tweet and to tell the truth "
I don't get it."

If she's saying that somehow Alaska has these huge oil reserves to make up for difference in not drilling offshore then she's very ill-informed.
Most geological petroleum experts know that all the current US oil fields in production (and that includes one's off-shore) are at peak, or past peak production. They are also fairly certain there are few new untapped oil reserves that are vast enough to make a significant dent in the current US oil consumption, which is why we import as much as 50% of our oil from foreign sources.
So no matter how much "drill, baby, drill" Sarah wants the oil industry to do, it is of little benefit if most new wells turn out to be dry holes.

BTW - isn't the purpose of a "National Wildlife Refuge" suppose to be a place where wildlife in that environment is protected, so how is it any "safer" to drill for oil in ANWR than off-shore? Does Sarah somehow expect us to believe oil spills and other toxic contaminations haven't occurred in and about land based petroleum production facilities too?
