well stranger things have happened, like george w getting his job back.

interesting to see palin distancing herself already with what mccain aides have been calling this "rogue campaign".  her aides are playing it as a break from the bothced handling of the mccain campaign from the jump...and they are completely right.

i mean dont get me wrong, i still havent found a single ideological point to agree with this twit of a woman on, but at least in the last little while she has looked like an unqualified politican moreso than a dan quayle blithering idiot.

seriously i dont really see her running for office in the future (god lets hope) but for sure the mccain wing of the party is going to cathc a beatdown if something doesnt change 180 in the next week or so...

Remember that it took Reagan like five tries before he finally got to the White House. Not to compare Ronnie with Sarah, but when overweening ambition is allied with total incompetence, and when Republican party leaders are thinking with their little heads instead of their big ones, anything is possible. Unless she gets impeached as governor, sadly, this will not be the last we have heard of Sarah Palin.

DruulEmpire: Zook, I had to see that Ashley Todd story make first page news the other day!  I'll see how it's followed up ...

Here you go:
Quote:

AOL Political Machine Blog: "One More on Ashley Todd"

OK so a lot of people, including myself and even the McCain campaign itself, were punked by Ashley Todd. Not good. And yes we've had a lot of posts on this subject, but let me add one more and trust me, there is a payoff at the end:

From the Post-Gazette:
Quote:

Once she had told the story to police, "she told lie after lie and the situation compounded to where we are right now," said Lt. Kraus. He added that Ms. Todd showed no remorse for her actions but was angry with the media, saying they blew the story out of proportion....

Ms. Todd's job as a field representative for the College Republican National Committee brought her to Pittsburgh about two weeks ago to recruit college students. She had worked for the committee since August. Yesterday, the organization fired her.

Yeah I bet they fired her. But wait, there's more!
Quote:

In March, Ms. Todd was asked to leave a grass-roots group of Ron Paul supporters in Brazos County, Texas, group leader Dustan Costine said. He said Ms. Todd posed as a supporter of former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and called the local Republican committee seeking information about its campaign strategies.

"She would call the opposing campaign and pretend she was on their campaign to get information," Mr. Costine said last night. "We had to remove her because of the tactics she displayed. After that we had nothing to do with her."

About a month earlier, he said, Ms. Todd sent an e-mail to the Ron Paul group saying her tires were slashed and that campaign paraphernalia had been stolen from her car because she supported Mr. Paul.

Stop there for a sec. she was too crazy for the Ron Paulians, I know PM regulars would appreciate that one. Also: has a pattern, but wait there's more!
Quote:

...On her My$pace profile, where her screen name is "Italian Pajamas," Ms. Todd gives her occupation as "Being a badass." Next to her picture, she references the title of a song by the group Panic at the Disco: "Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her cloths (sic) off," but adds to it "but its (sic) better if you do."

Among the books she lists as favorites: The Scarlet Letter.

Wow. Girl has issues. And she'll probably try volunteering again. Yeah let's clean up the reference check... but honestly if they'd checked with the Ron Paul team, I can imagine it thusly: they'd probably say, Ashley, her? yeah she's great sign her up. And then they'd hang up and laugh, and laugh, and laugh.... oy.

Goddamn, that bitch has more issues than The New Yorker.

You guys whine too much. You need to do something constructive like these guys did.

yes sadly for all of us its going to be republican centrists who take the hit for the way this has gone for mccain.

especially if obama manages to get elected and has a rough first term, im scared we'll be right back with a "folksy" moron in the white house...

I really have genuine concern for Republican centerists like Chris Shays and Gordon Smith; they are really the people who put "country first". It was hard for a lot of people who had supported Lincoln Chaffee before 2006, to vote against him. But all this crap reminds me of Tom Foley, the last pre-Newt Speaker of the House, who insisted on giving each member equal time for speaking and the right to add floor amendments. He was so even-handed that the Republicans not only took the Speaker's job away from him, but they dumped huge resources into his district to personally defeat him.

I have been watching Gorden Smith and I don't consider him a centrist. I have seen him too many time make proposal that are centrist just to vote it down when it came ready to pass. I have seen him dance as centrist just before election then turn hard core far right for the remaining 3 years. But mostly what I don't like is that he pass a bill on enforcing water quality and his company violates the water 4 times without paying for the damage from Gorden frozen food company.
"Yesterday, Reince Priebus called this whole story a 'nothing burger,'" he said. "Well these emails have turned it into an all-you-can-prosecute buffet."

It's incredible just how desperate and how low the McCain campaign has become, trying to invent things and shout them loudly and often enough for people to start believing them. Take this video for example:

It can happen to the best of us...

Daily KOS: "Palin Pranked"

A Canadian comedy duo called The Masked Avengers from CKOI 96.9 FM in Montreal, Quebec pranked Sarah Palin, convincing her (and her team) they were receiving a call from French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
Quote:

In the interview, which lasts about six minutes, Palin and the pranksters discuss politics, pundits, and the dangers of hunting with current vice-president Dick Cheney.

Listen to the hilarious call here. EPIC FAIL. Grandpa McCain isn't going to be happy about this one.

Their website must be getting slammed because it isn't loading for some.  Here is the YouTube (h/t NegSpin):

Update: Some have questioned whether Palin "deserved" this prank. Kossack novelle puts it best:
Quote:

She deserved it for sitting down with no pre-conditions.
