You'll note that nowhere did she ever hint at who she thought it was, or who was behind it. Yet almost immediately after the piece aired, Trump attorney Michael Cohen fired off a Cease and Desist letter, in which it was written:

“...false and defamatory statements made....regarding Mr. Cohen, namely that he was responsible for an alleged thug who supposedly visited Ms. Clifford, while she was with her daughter, and made an alleged threat to Mr. Clifford.”

“In truth, Mr. Cohen had absolutely nothing to do with any such person or incident, and does not even believe that any such person exists, or that any such incident ever occurred,” the letter continues. “You and your client’s false statements about Mr. Cohen accuse him of criminal conduct, and constitute, among other claims, libel per se and intentional infliction of emotional distress.”

Um.... No, she NEVER MENTIONED who she thought was responsible. Stop hitting yourself, Cohen.....

This just indicated that the mafia bosses know more about who that guy was.

Oh, by the way, that bit where Daniels told about being threatened by a "goon"?

"A guy walked up on me and said to me, ‘Leave Trump alone. Forget the story,’" Daniels told 60 Minutes correspondent Anderson Cooper. "And then he leaned around and looked at my daughter and said, ‘That’s a beautiful little girl. It’d be a shame if something happened to her mom.’ And then he was gone."

For crying out loud. Where did this nimrod get his law degree from, a box of Crackerjacks?

And by the way, Joe DiGenova and Victoria Toensing, the latest attorneys to join Team Trump, just did a 180 and left the team. Seems they've got "conflicts of interest" of some sort. One theory from former Solicitor General Neal Katyal suggests that someone from Team Mueller took them aside and told them "don't do this... you've got a major conflict of interest here..." He notes that on occasion, really scrupulous prosecutors will indeed advise the defendant against doing something immensely stupid.

Trump, meanwhile, brags that he can get all the legal help he wants. But given his track record of not following his lawyer's advice, and not even paying them..... At this rate, he'll be sending interns down to the nearest Legal Aid Society offices.

Well, every US citizen is entitled to legal representation, no matter where it comes from. Maybe Roman J. Israel, Esq. will become available...

That's true!
And everyone who has the money and is established can have a lawyer. If you have reached a certain level in the establishment you can buy any unethical lawyer that you want, doing for you everything you want. Wasn't Trumpelstilsken involved in over 3000 court cases in his life? What does this tell you about his private and business behaviours?

I would believe that even president Obama wasn't even involved in 1/100 of that number of cases. Nor president Clinton. Maybe president Bush he has reached this 1/100, but still far far away from the established liar Trumpelstilsken.

The decennial Census is one of the oldest if not the first functions of the Federal Government, mandated in Article I Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution. The relevant section:

"Representation and direct taxes shall be apportioned among the several states which may be included within this Union, according to their respective numbers ... the actual enumeration shall be made within three years after the first meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent term of ten years, in such manner as they shall by law direct."

The Census has been conducted every ten years since 1790. Not even a Civil War or two subsequent World Wars came in the way of it. But now something has happened that is set to wreak havoc upon the entire exercise.

On Monday night, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross announced that he is directing the Census Bureau to ask all respondents to the 2020 Census to report their citizenship status. He made this decision over the strong objections of former census directors representing both Republican and Democratic administrations, 60 members of Congress, 161 Republican and Democratic mayors, 19 state attorneys general, more than 170 civil rights organizations, and prominent business leaders, among others, all of whom strongly advised against adding a citizenship question.

So, what's the big deal?

Quote

"The Census touches virtually every aspect of our lives, determining our political representation, shaping how federal resources are allocated, powering our businesses, driving decisions by schools and police departments, and informing medical research.

Under the Constitution, seats in the House of Representatives are divided among the states every 10 years based on the population count that the census generates. Seats in the Electoral College are allocated the same way. States also use census data to draw district lines for congressional and state legislative seats – a necessary process to make sure communities are fairly represented. Census data also guides the distribution of hundreds of billions of dollars in federal aid. It informs statistical publications that help business owners and local governments make key decisions on matters ranging from marketing and investment to the assignment of police beats. And it provides academic researchers, journalists, and others with invaluable demographic information."
Even though Census workers are held to a very high standard when it comes to sharing or using the information so gathered (the Census Act contains some of the the strongest privacy and confidentiality protections that exist in federal law, each violation of which will net you up to $5,000 in fines or five years of jail time) as it is you have millions of people who don't trust the Feds and who already don't like to be questioned by Census workers. Especially now that we are under this white nationalist regime, some of them would be afraid that they would be ratted out to ICE or something.

So, who benefits from an undercount of American residents? And why would this man do such an obviously partisan thing, despite near-universal opprobrium? Take a wild guess...

Quote

New York Magazine: "Trump’s Census Change Could Give the GOP an Advantage for Years to Come"

While it might seem like the epitome of boring government bureaucracy, the count of every person living in America — which must take place every ten years, according to the Constitution — is extremely important, as the data is used to draw political districts and determine the distribution of federal funding. The Trump administration’s move is likely to give Republicans, who already have an edge in congressional and state legislative maps, an even greater advantage for years to come.

The citizenship question has not been included in the decennial Census since 1950, though it is included in some smaller population surveys. Adding the question is expected to discourage noncitizens — a population already difficult to count accurately — from responding to the Census. A majority of undocumented immigrants live in 20 metropolitan areas, so undercounting this population would shift power and resources away from more Democratic-leaning cities and toward Republican-leaning rural areas.

...There’s ample evidence that the Trump administration has been trying to use the 2020 Census to their political advantage, from a foiled attempt to put a leading defender of GOP gerrymandering in charge of the Census, to refusing to hire noncitizen Census-takers, who are seen as crucial to reaching immigrant communities...

Former U.S. attorney general Eric Holder, who has devoted his post-Obama administration career to fighting the GOP’s state-level advantage, said he intends to sue as well.

“We will litigate to stop the Administration from moving forward with this irresponsible decision,” said Holder, who is now chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee. “The addition of a citizenship question to the Census questionnaire is a direct attack on our representative democracy.“

This is the weaponization of the Census, and there shall be no good from it.

Did someone see the new picture of this year white house intern? The picture with Trumpelstilsken in the middle.

What does the picture (I guess everyone above 18, but I don't take the chances - so not posting it) tell you?

I find that to be hilarious! However they are also reporting that they are having rave party in the WH quite often with **94** games! Looking so much more like the movie "Idiocracy"
"Yesterday, Reince Priebus called this whole story a 'nothing burger,'" he said. "Well these emails have turned it into an all-you-can-prosecute buffet."

What was the **94**?

I think the problem here with the word is that the BEA has a list of words that will cause problems in Google search rank for the site. So they have a script scanning each post for words of this list and replacing them. The script is not smart enough to realize in which context it was posted.

So **94** or intoxication is removed ... (this was a test ...)

Edit: but since it is really only the act of consuming liquids, it means they want to prevent that some people of our subjects here on the board are confronted with their bad intoxication habits.

Most people haven't been paying attention, but Sinclair Media has been buying up local TV stations left and right - and giving them quite a few "Must Run" pieces. Doesn't sound so bad, right? That's just it. Sinclair is a RIGHT WING media conglomerate - a junior varsity version of FOX News, if you will. Their "must run" pieces include "opinion" pieces from known right-wingers including former Trump "advisor" Boris Epshteyn, pieces that echo RW talking points (like inflammatory "Terrorism Alerts"), and the like

Sinclair owns AT LEAST 70% of all local TV stations - and wants to buy more.

Over at Deadspin, Timothy Burke edited together a bunch of newspeople reciting the latest "must run" piece from Sinclair:

Yeah...... media control by one company IS extremely dangerous to our democracy.....

No doubt there will be someone who will try to "argue" that a right-wing network is necessary to combat the "leftist bias" of stations like MSNBC. But of course that is a red herring. Faux, and CNN, and MSNBC are all cable networks, meaning you have to pay to receive their broadcasts. Sinclair, on the other hand, is assembling a bunch of over-the-air networks, local TV news stations that are available to anyone with a TV and an antenna. That is the crucial difference. If you want to watch Faux "News" Channel, or CNN, or MSNBC, you have to pay for it; if the Sinclair takeover of Tribune Media is allowed to go through, then WPIX (New York) and WGN (Chicago) and dozens of free broadcasters will become a network spewing right-wing propaganda over the free airwaves, like "members of a brainwashed cult" as John Oliver deemed them this past Sunday. (His first piece on them in July 2017 is just as disturbing.)

Why isn't the FCC immediately shutting this attempt down? Oh, I forgot, they're being led by that execrable shill Ajit Pai now. The same dude who wants to destroy net neutrality, and who wants to squash the AT&T/Time Warner Cable (aka the parent company of CNN) merger down.

This is not normal.

It is logical. Trumpelstilsken had success with his propaganda manipulating the nationalistic thinking people on the cable networks. The same success Adolf Hitler had with the upcoming radio, misusing it for Nazi propaganda. Since they have to pay for cable network they could reach nationalistic middle class people with their Nazi propaganda.
It was already very easy to manipulate these people.

With the local TV stations they can get the nationalistic lower class people, too and impregnate them with the Nazi propaganda. It's even easier with them.
