Get most of your news from television and all you'll know is what the anchorette info babes (& guys) spin your way! (Maddow, Costello, Sawyer, Brzezinski, Mitchell, Scarborough, etc.  )

Get most of your news from television comics (Behar, O'Donnell, Stewart, Colbert, Sharpton, Letterman, Maher, Whoopi, etc.) and all you'll know is sarcasm and mordacity.

Agreed. I have no idea when that sign was put up, but if by now people haven't realized that

1) Obama isn't a Muslim, and
2) even if he was a Muslim, so bloody what? and
3) freedom of religion is one of the tenets of this country, and
4) this country was not created by God or by Allah, but by men, some of whom were Deists, others of whom were Masons, but all of whom would not approve of this type of racism/xenophobia masquerading as "defending the faith"

then God help them.

Obama aside...So bloody what? Sorry, fella, but I happen to believe women and men should have equal rights.

And Barack actually is a Trekkie, and just like Spock is bi-racial, so that fits quite well

Meanwhile, did anyone catch Wanda Sykes at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner? I was skeptical at first that she wouldn't be able to pull it off and be too deferential to the POTUS, but she gave it to a lot of people with both barrels. And whoever writes Obama's jokes should start working for SNL -- that bit with the TelePrompTer was inspired.

I apologize in advance if I post duplicate pictures in any of the picture threads I deal in.  My MO in getting pictures of one girl is to rip her Instagram.  That ends up with me having up to 2000 pics of her.  I've tried almost half a dozen duplicate finder programs, and none of them find all of the duplicates I inevitably end up with.

CBS polls have found 72% of American want a public option of a single payer plan. Yet pharmaceutical and doctors have dish out cash for vote. Arlen Specter have received over $500,000, senator Mary Landreu received over $1.5 million from pharm corporation. Those are the kind of political clout these corporation are buying for their vote. Theories have already shown that having a public option for health insurance was the major key to reduce national debt. The frank Luntz talking point are not even worth a giggle that is so far reaching for the reason to not let a single payer plan go forward, that most Americans are just not buying the song and dance of public option. If its so bad why do the politician themselves have their own govt health plan????

Excellent points 3derot.

There should be a public option plan.  It makes sense.  The Repubs claim to love competition so much... this is competition for godssake!!

The Repubs are infuriating sometimes, becasue so many are so obviously controlled by their corporate overlords.

I don't care if there's a $3000.00 per year deductible.

As long as there's reasonable insurance (maybe $800 to $1200 a year) so that somebody can't get screwed over if they have a 'pre-existing condition', then its all gravy.

Sometimes I can't believe i live in a society that allows the whole pre-existing condition scam.  One of my buddies is caught in that trap.  He had some liver condition before he got insurance, so now, ANYTHING having to do with that (which is his only medical problem) is not covered.  America sucks sometimes.  Its the best place in the world if you're fabulously wealthy, but not so good if you just want to be middle class.

Bill Maher said it best.

"The Republican party is the weakest its been in 50 years. If Obama and the Democrats can't shove universal healthcare down their throats now, they never will."

It is so infuriating.  Is it that the Dems are afraid of the kind of Repub backlash i.e. the 1994 election?

Argg!!!!
