US Air Force Pararescue squad. Good to know I'm not the only insane person around here. I volunteered to go on a ship that sinks on purpose, goes many feet under the water surface where the pressure will atomize your body if something goes wrong and communication with the outside world can be easily lost. These guys purposely jump from a perfectly good plane and hoped the guy that rigged their parachute isn't dr4nk or high while doing it , otherwise they end up as a bloody spot on the ground. Helps to be young and feel indestructible to do this shit.

That is the rescue dye that crew members can also use rather/other than flares. When the craft originally fell down, they were in company of other craft so they only used their rescue dingy because the other helicopters rescued them. The dye canisters burst as the helicopter was being lifted from the sea. No biggie.

In and Out-Burger was first established in 1948 and in those days it didn't mean what we gutter brained people like us think it does.  It was the first drive thru restaurant in the world. The original didn't even have a indoor dining area even though it did have a few picnic like tables outside. Started in Southern California where it seldom rains.   It is very popular in this part of the country because their burgers are damn good and their fries are never frozen but cut in house. If you come to the Southwestern US, do try it out. And yes, the weather is amenable to sight scantily clad young females.

Sailors from the USS Theodore Roosevelt ( CVN -71 ) manning the rails while transiting near the USS Carl Vinson ( CVN -70 ) at their homeport of North Naval Station in San Diego, California. Manning the rails is an old custom in which sailors from a arriving or departing ship show their respects to their fellow shipmates. Of course, if the weather sucks, it is skipped. It is also done in a foreign port to show the hosting nation that the visiting warship has no ill intent. Like so many customs, it started in the age of sail when, by showing the other guy that your crew was topside where he could be seen and not below deck manning the guns, that everything was cool.

M1A2 Abrams going through it paces in the Extreme Cold Region Testing site in Alaska. This particular tank had earlier in the prior year done testing in the Yuma Testing site in Arizona for extreme heat conditions testing new kit. It works fine in both.
