A French Navy helicopter Alouette approaches the landing deck of the USS Pearl Harbor, LSD-52 (Landing Ship Dock) in a joint exercise somewhere in the Pacific. France does have colonies in the Pacific.

That is true! I don't know but maybe there should always be a flight instructor attached to the air traffic control tower just in case such a situation arises?

It's more likely to happen in smaller craft. Airlines and the big jets have at least three people (pilot, co-pilot, engineer) who can fly the plane in an emergency - and I'll bet there's at least one senior flight attendant who has been trained to take over if necessary.

If you should find yourself in that situation - STAY CALM. Hard to do, true, but if there's no crash imminent, you should be able to handle it.

Get the plane going straight and level (which is likely to be what the plane "wants" to do anyway), then find the radio and call for help.

Grace Braeger from West Bend, Wisconsin, still drives this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air that she bought for $2250.00 sixty-four years ago and now has 122,000 miles on it and it is in mint condition. Amazing.  :o :)
