Craig Mercer Needs Your Advice On A Job Opportunity
« on: November 18, 2001, 05:46:00 AM »
With the holidays fast approaching, I'm seeking additional income beyond that of my day retail job. Yesterday, at that job one of my favorite customers, a petite, curvaceous Asian came in and reminded me of an opportunity she brought up the last time. So, I need your advice. In addition to my day job selling clothes to a constant parade of attractive women of body types ranging from bulit to absurdly stacked Which reminds me, between 3 and 5 pm yesterday, a teen came in browsing with her 30 something, topheavy 36 FF biker mama (tight black t-shirt and arm tattoo) mother unbelievable, they looked like  twin bean bag chairs...   Should I take on an additional job assisting security at a local gentleman's club keeping the peace  in front of a constant parade of topless dancers of body types ranging from built to absurdly stacked (see "Minnie Driver" sighting). I'm just worried that at one point Laurence Fishburne will show up with some pills and force me to wake up to reality. Feedback?

it's a dirty job, but somebody's got to do it.  Think of it as your contribution to patriotic defense of the American way of life!

If you want to be a part-time bouncer at any club (even one of the better places) learning the ropes during the holidays is a poor way to do it.  Christmas and New Years are the worst.  That's the one month that all the idiots that usually stay home and annoy their wifes come out to blow off steam.  Sounds too good to be true because it's not.  On the other hand, it might be fun for the rest of us to read the horror stories you'll be posting very soon.

I dunno. On one hand, I look back fondly at the old days of bouncing. On the other hand, I do not miss working until 3am, every weekend, and holiday. I have no problem partying/dancing/conversing until 3am, because I know I can leave when I want. Working the door, however...I suppose it fit my lifestyle at the time (read: bachelorhood). Good luck, Craig!

Just make sure your attention is not too locked on to the dancers. Your suppose to bounce rowdy customers not the dancers.
There's no such thing as too much of a good thing.

And watch out for the drunks...getting in the way of two drubks groping for a woman in a dark club is not my idea of fun. I guess you know how to handle yourself physically, otherwise your customer wouldn't have suggested your moonlighting gig.

On the whole, I'd take it, if you handle the physical bit. (And I don't mean the pinching of babe's bottoms, either.) Good luck, man!

I have work as a bouncer years ago, my advice is to dress up sharp, in tuxedo shirt if possible. Do not try to look tough and treat everyone with respect, and they will respect you. When I card people who come in if they gave me flack, I dont let them in, right up front you let them know that if they dont treat you with respect they are not able to treat the dancer with respect. Not only are they to be old enough to enter but act old enough to enter. The dancer will love you for it by bringing only classy customer and you will bring in more customer if they know that there will be no trouble in the bar. The one that treat you with respect , treat them like they're millionaires!    You want to make those that are uneay about going to a strip joint feel comfortable about going to a classy place, and you want to avoid kicking people out for being an asshole by not let them go in the first place.
Martial arts training would be nice, not to inflict someone but the ability to dogde punches and balance. that why you try to become friendly to the patrons as they go in because you may have to get in the middle to stop a fight. And the classy shirt will make it hard for them to try to mess you up. They know that you are there to do your job and not because you want to fight. Trust your dancers, if they tell you that someone is nothing but trouble, keep an eye on them.
