My point was that when you say 'football' in Australia, depending on the context, it either means what a Canadian would refer to as 'rugby' or 'Aussie rules'.  Period.  Sorry if I wasn't clear on that.

cherri's watching TV at the moment, but I did bounce your definition off her.  She didn't quite agree with it.  Not sure if she'll submit her definition, but she is partial to Rugby League.  Aside from less than 2 years in the USA, the rest of her time was split between Aussie and NZ.  She also used to play rugby.  In short, she knows way more about rugby than I do.  

Oh, this just in:  cherri is speculating that you're from Victoria, something about your comment...?

Somewhat relevant:  Recently on The David Letterman Show, they had on an Aussie rules player who had damaged his ring finger so many times, he finally had it surgically removed.  Strange logic if you ask me.  Otherwise, if he really wanted to improve his game, he should remove all his fingers.  

Regardless, this is all pretty interesting stuff to someone like myself.
