how much is it really a person's decision when there are so many external pressures? Not being like everyone else comes with penalties, often severe ones. It messes with a person's mind, feelings, etc. Some may react by putting up a fight and becoming very different, some may hide in the shadows, others will conform. Are any of the choices, any of the reactions to the outside world really free will when the society itself is anything but free? Any such choice is made not just because a person wants this or that but because of how the outside will react. The pluses and minuses are added up and most of those are external.[/quote]
I see your point, but at the same time I don't feel it's society's pressure in her case. She seems like a smart girl who may want to lessen the load on her body. I feel like if "society" was pressuring her, she wouldn't be as receptive to feedback about the surgery process and such. If she were doing it because of self-consciousness, she would just do it and be done with it.
She's a model and has posed in the nearly nude. I very well could be wrong, but I don't think she has body image issues.[quote author=zeo
