When the Republican Party finally decided abortion wasn't a good thing (sometime in the 1980s), it was easy to foresee what would happen: Bush the First, after long support of Planned Parenthood, turned and barred birth control from foreign aid programs; thru the 1990s the Republican congress set tighter limits until Bush the Second cut all support for abortion, then birth control.

Now we have the final stupidity: A Republican candidate for the U.S. senate who opposes masturbation.

I find the entire situation comical, but especially this woman. Have you heard her newest bit of news about her? I seriously feel like we're on a nationwide candid camera sometimes.

Now, fine. Saying masturbation is bad, I can get. I don't agree but if you want to go the "every sperm is sacred" route, go right ahead. However when you say that masturbation is being unfaithful and cheating, you've got something wrong in your head. If you're going to spout such utter BS, at LEAST have a weak argument that's believable if you squint and tilt your head.

It's the classic strategy of being more devout in something in order to prevent suspicion. The conversos of the Inquisition were more overtly Catholic than many of the non-Jews, primarily to prevent people form knowing that they were still Jewish at home.

In much the same way, the "family values" crusaders are especially zealous, so that people will turn a blind eye to what they do with other members of the same sex in the bathroom.

Such is the fate of those who live in an environment where their very existence is not considered acceptable.

Siria, strange as it may sound, I don't think it is sex that makes them crazy--It is sexual pleasure. They talk about it differently, that they approve of all kinds of sex in marriage, blah, blah, blah*. But anecdotely I have enough examples to assert that among people I have know, the group least knowledgable about sexual pleasure are right-wing men.

Conservatism is by definition opposition to the unknown. A person who is a conservative is naturally inclined to fear anything outside their own personal experience as well as anyone they do not understand.

I've heard the opposite argument -- given enough time conservatives will outnumber liberals because only liberals have abortions.  One obvious flaw with this is the assumption that conservatives only beget more conservatives.

The flaw is you assume most conservative are non-white, there is something about people who think skin color matters in regard to world safety. The irrational fears that brown skin uprising against white people if the purity of the race is in danger. 50% of the Republican thinks Barack is a Muslim. I didn't say this in the beginning, but I now question that maybe its a racial issue. After comparing Reagan to Obama, and Reagan is more liberal than Obama, really takes out a lot of argument that Barack is to be feared base on policy. After so many pages of rant toward Obama, and yet not a single fact of his Muslim tendency, but endless rampage of opinion and ratings of his presidency, there is that, the race card.

Brown skin is a dominant DNA trait over white skin, eventually we will all become gray. The race to protect the purity of the race is just going to keep adding the population of this crowded world, and then only undereducated starving people will be the majority!

Evangelical Christians certainly can't seem to get their kids to hate gays as effectively as they used to, that's for sure.
