Been around here for years, I believe GIF'S get a "view count" just from pages being loaded, not necessarily "clicks on", if you understand. Maybe I confused you more, lol.

Mod edit: I don't know it for a fact, but that makes perfect sense, since animated GIFs autoload/play and jpegs (or still GIFs, PNG, etc..,) must be clicked on to load the full-rez source file. -Pal
