1952 Hudson Commodore. One of the things about that era was the fact that automakers used to give some of their cars military style names since so many of their customers were World War 2 veterans and would have liked/known the meaning of the name.

1981 Checker cab. A friend of my father owned an independent cab private company and he loved the Checker automobile since it was rugged, reliable and easy to maintain. This was many years before there was Uber and people used their old rotary dial/push buttons phones to contact him.

This was a very interesting era for cars.  Automobile design had obviously stopped during WWII since there were no new car sales.  When the war ended, the new cars were just mildly refreshed versions of those made just before the war as automakers tooled up for the truly new car designs.  The new designs of the late 40s $ early 50s must have seemed so futuristic with both the front and rear fenders blended fully into the body (more or less, anyway).  This led to some upside-down bathtub designs, like the Hudson, but I bet many still thought they were futuristic.

I really miss these stalwarts of cabdom.  That design stayed virtually unchanged for decades.  I remember looking up how the company sold the civilian version and laughed when I saw that door handles were optional!  Mission Impossible would use a civilian version as a “local vehicle” when the action took place behind the iron curtain—LOL.  Good ol’ Kalamazoo.  Wish they could’ve built them forever.

From the year I was born, the 1956 Ford F-100 pickup truck. In those days trucks were strictly utilitarian vehicles that didn't have carpeting, air conditioning or anything thought of as a "Luxury". Of course, nowadays they are just like sedans with all sort of goodies and the ch1ld of the F-100, F-150, has been the bestselling single vehicle in the USA for 30+ years in a row.

Built by the legendary Enzo Ferrari, the first Ferrari from May 11, 1947, was the 125S which had a V-12 engine at 1.5 liters and 118 horsepower and could go up to 112 MPH or 180 KPH.
