My wife is a Kiwiroo; she was born in NZ, and split her pre-USA time about 50/50 between NZ and Aus, so her accent would always be 'foreign' regardless of where she was. She's the product of a Maori mom on the NZ side, and a Caucasian dad on the Aussie side.

We live in Texas (I'm originally from Canada) and although her accent has softened over the years, it still occasionally perplexes the locals. The last time she spoke with her dad he made the "septic tank" reference, which I know you and a few others will immediately understand. On occasion when she chats with her relatives via Skype, they seem quite amazed at her accent, and I'm quite amazed at how difficult it can be to understand them. Granted, I do have memories of how surprisingly difficult it was to understand her the first time I spoke with her on the phone.

TL;DR Aussie/Kiwi accents are cool!

That's where I get my nose shape and my giant flat feet. XD  My skin is 100% from my Norwegian father though. =p
