The Theatre

Anyone here like going to the Theatre? And by Theatre, I don't mean movie theatre, I mean a stage show/Musical sort of deal.

I have been to a few shows/Plays in London. The Phantom of the Opera, The 39 Steps, Starlight Express, We Will Rock You, The Mousetrap, Ghost Stories(twice), The Woman In Black(twice), The Snowman(twice), We Will Rock You and a strange few at so-called Fringe theatres.

One play I saw was a very creepy affair called 'The Woods Are Lovely', which was on at a theatre called The Courtyard Theatre, in Shoreditch. It was shown as part of the London Horror Festival a couple of years ago. There were only three actors and it was about a British couple who come across a North American man in a communal log cabin while out hiking in Canada. As the day descends into night, things begin to take a more and more sinister turn...

It was BRILLIANT. The three actors didn't miss a beat. The crowd was tiny (only six of us I think). The 'stage' was actually in the middle of the floor, with the audience chairs situated around it, all on one level. I have never enjoyed a play so much in all my time of going to the theatre. The only claim to fame any of the actors had was a single line at the end of Captain America. The actor in question, Kevin Millington, was superb and I have high hopes for him breaking into the mainstream at some point.

Anyone else have any notable theatre going experiences.

I enjoy the theater and have worked professionally in it. The strangest and most interesting staged performance I ever saw was Philip Glass' "1000 Airplanes on the Roof." Absolutely fascinating.

I have seen The Phantom of the Opera twice, once in a fairly high regarded theater in Minneapolis and once in Las Vegas. I loved it both times I've seen it. Wanted to go again in Minneapolis but the price made me change my mind. $120 per ticket unfortunately took me out of the game. I would love to see it again.
