I will be receiving my new drill press on Tuesday October 7th.
If things go well I should be completing the build before the end of the week.

I drilled and milled out the firing pocket and checked to make sure the correct measurements have been done.

For some reason the trigger assembly does not release the hammer even after filing down the areas of contact.

Upon further research I found a trigger/hammer assembly that is enclosed and all I would have to do is drop it in the lower receiver install the 2 pins and then finish the assembly of my rifle.

Here is a picture of the assembled rifle.

Unfortunately it is just a quick look at what the rifle will look like and still does not have the trigger and hammer functional.

Plus this lower receiver does not have the engraving I want on it yet.
I had ordered one with the engraving, but I have not started work on it yet.

I kind of postponed the build to wait for a new lower that I wanted engraved before I drilled out the trigger pocket.

I was just browsing around the the different gun websites when I came across a 80% lower made out of black polymer.

Since it was only $50 for the lower and the jig I ordered it.

It looks pretty simple to work with and now I want to get this one engraved as well. One cool thing is that there won't be a bunch of aluminum shavings and scrap to clean up. Of course I will have polymer shaving to clean up, but they won't be sharp and I don't want to cause any injury to my self or my boys.

Since Christmas is only a few days away I need to take care of my two grandsons first so I will continue on after the holidays

Yesterday I saw the movie " American Sniper " with Bradley Cooper  and enjoyed it greatly. The sniper rifles on the movie are interesting. Today, of course, they are mostly unique and specialty weapons such as the M-82 Barrett .50 caliber weapon or such. In the Vietnam war they were hunting rifles with a better scope. The best sniper in Vietnam was Carlos Hatchcock with 93 confirmed kills including a North Vietnamese General he staked for four days and three nights inching on the ground before he shot him on the chest. He also killed an enemy sniper when he shot him through the opponents rifle scope and into his eyes. You should read up about him. It would make a great movie.

Didn't the guy from Finland in WW2 that had 500+ kills in 4 months(*) use his elk hunting rifle?  I know it had iron sights.

This past Saturday Jan 17th I went to the gun show with the intent on buying a 9mm semi automatic hand gun. I had over $900.00 to spend being that I would also get ammo and a gun cleaning kit.

Well, I found out that I needed 2 forms of ID and all I had was my driver's license. I was a bit disappointed, but I did not let it ruin my day. I bought some other items I wanted and I will get my gun at the next gun show in March.

I hope I get the polymer lower back from the engraver soon so I can complete my AR-15.
