Tonight Carl Reiner was on The Tonight Show. There have been 11 incarnations of The Tonight Show, and Carl Reiner is the only person to appear on all 11. More than that, however, in his 93 years he has been a writer, performer, producer, and director. If Philo T. Farnsworth created the hardware of television, Reiner created the software.

And he hosted "The Alan Brady Show"!

I liked him a lot on " The Dick Van Dyke " show.  :)  He wrote most of that show and, of course, he was the fictional Alan Brady.  :)

Always wonderful to see him on The Tonight Show! If it weren't for Your Show of Shows there would be no Saturday Night Live.

Indiana just passed a law allowing businesses to discriminate against their gay customers. While researching more about the law and its implications, I came across a question: "Will Jim Nabors come back to sing to open the Indy 500?" That's when I realized that he is still very much alive. I think it's scandalous that two years ago, when he was 82, he got married to a younger man, a mere stripling in his sixties! Scandalous, I say!

They did the deed in Seattle because at the time same-sex marriage was not legal in California.

^ Yes, Jim Nabors is still with us, age 84; other than Ron and Clint Howard, probably the last regular cast member from "The Andy Griffith Show."

I'm pleased to see that he married his longtime male partner in Seattle, in 2013. And I'm positively delighted that the U.S. Marine Corps awarded his Gomer Pyle character honorary promotions to lance corporal and then corporal.

Far earlier, jokes about his rumored homosexuality were childish at best. There's far more progress to be made, but thank God that bigotry continues to die, albeit slowly.

I don't know where else to put this in the forum: Nichelle Nichols, Uhura on "Star Trek," suffered a "mild stroke" last night.

I share this news not to be morbid, but for anyone here to help send positive energy her way. She made television history in several ways, and then went on to work at NASA, recruiting future astronauts. I believe that Sally Ride was one of her recruits.
