I was looking at the picture you posted, and I noticed that France and the Netherlands are quite hot also, relatively speaking.
This brief warm weather has come over from continental Europe due to southerly air flow. Europe has been having +40C for a while now - wild fires in Portugal, drying rivers in Italy.
This heat is only going to last a few days, but we are not setup for it at all.
I've been to Laughlin - its going to be about the same temp as London on Tuesday - this seems kinda nuts when you think about it.
