It'll be warmer in NE England than LV after dark - not often I can say that.

Back in the Winter of 2005, one day we had a snowfall of 5 inches (13cm), and I was able to build a snowman that did not melt for close to a week and one day it got down to 19F and we had some strong winds. Many people that did not have proper insulation for their outdoor water pipes had a bunch of busted water pipes after they froze. Plumbers made a bunch of money. The point is it can get really cold here in Sin City once in a while.

It's -3C and partly cloudy, but because the wind is blowing at 35 km/h from the North, it feels like -11.

What do you do for heating if that is the case.  I presume heating your house isn't something you do that often.
Here: 1300 - 46F - heavy rain.

I use natural gas to heat the house. In the Summer months, my gas bill is about $20 or so but November through March it is anywhere from $80 to $120 depending on how cold it really gets. I keep my house at about 67F or so in the cold months to minimize my gas bill. My water heater and my oven are also natural gas. Thank God we don't depend on the Russians like you Europeans do.

I pay about $70 a month for gas and electric.  Here, not sure how it works for you, we pay an estimate of past usage, divided by 12.  So if they estimate I was going to use $1200 of gas and electric for the whole year they'll (energy company) divide that in to 12 $100 payments.

If I use more or under the estimate then I either get a refund or have to pay more.  I give a reading each month so the bill can often change throughout the year.  Works well in my opinion.  But you don't have to pay that way, you can pay quarterly on usage if you want.

That indoor temp s about the same here - probably a degree or so less.  I don't think you can buy a gas oven now over here - gotta be electric.

Thank God we don't depend on the Russians like you Europeans do.
The UK gets the majority of its gas from the North Sea - we have about 50% of our own reserves, but we buy some from Norway and some LNG. Virtually nothing from Russia.  We still have to pay the market price though.

I was thinking about Europe overall.
