Currently it is 81 in Southern New England, we expect a high of 89 this afternoon but with the soupy humidity it will feel like 100.

And there is no end to the heat and humidity in sight until late next week. Maybe!

I'm staying inside with the A/C on full.

Here in Vegas in the Summertime, temperature in the 80's-90's would be considered unusually cool for this time of the year.

Las Vegas is a large valley and while the airport did hit 120F, where I live in Summerlin area located about 700 feet above in the foothills, it is/was cooler. This is normal, it is colder here in the Wintertime also. Right now, it is 100F or 38C with 6% humidity and the low might be 84F or 29C later tonight.

I know, I've been there. The first time I went out to Vegas the daytime temps were around 115 but it was so dry it didn't feel that hot. More like low 80s with moderate humidity, and that's pretty much normal around here. It really is the humidity that makes even moderate heat so bad. High humirity can make even 65 feel hot.

The worst heat I have ever experience was back in the Summer of 1973 when it hit 115F with an astounding 98% humidity in Houston, Texas. It was so bad that many home air conditioners failed. Living in Houston, I remember the smell of mildew that was prevalent and there were so many bugs and frogs. Many people believe Texas is mostly desert because of Western movies which were based on West Texas. East Texas is right by the Gulf of Mexico and it is very humid. As a matter of fact, alligators live by the Red River state boundary by Louisiana. Texas is a large state. El Paso, Texas is closer to Los Angeles, California than to Houston, Texas.

I've been to Houston once and don't need to go back. Horrific humidly. Although the women I suppose would feel the need to wear as little as possible.

The weather in Houston isn't the best but its business environment is great, it is the capital of energy in the USA, and if it continues to grow, it will surpass Chicago as the 3rd largest city in the USA.
