That photo was very daring/controversial for its time.

I saw this film The Nude Bomb (1980) long long time ago, and the only things I remember about it are Maxwell Smart driving a motorized desk, and Chere Bryson:

Jayne in court to divorce Mr. Mansfield.

She was gorgeous.

Jayne in court to divorce Mr. Mansfield.

She was gorgeous.

That she was, and her "breasts as a priority" attitude can be appreciated to this day.

Makes one wonder if there, at that time, had been a usable healthy method to make busts larger, would Jayne and other actresses and models gone for it. And how big. Would the pointy torpedo shape have been a preference...

Here is actress Jayne Mansfield pictured once again visiting breast enhancement clinic in West Hollywood. We have been pleased to report her progress as she has grown prettier and prettier, but this time she certainly has inched out a new milestone in beauty. It is expected that Jayne's latest development will prompt Marilyn Monroe to revisit the good doctor, as the women compete who is the biggest star of the silver screen. It may, however, not be a two-way battle, as there are many more ladies who are preparing themselves to steal the title.

That would have been wild for the 1950's if giant breasts implants like nowadays were available then.

She doesn't need a bullet bra to get the conical shape. 😀

Do you think it could have caught on and been mainstream?

How about Marilyn Monroe with a larger chest made to be shown off and admired:
