LOL! The title I saw on the forum only said "My kitten just jumped..". I thought someone was reporting a pet death story to us.
But if we're comparing our "very personal" experiances with the family feline, I have my own to offer.
Background first: Pregnant cat's instinctively look for a place they feel safe and have privacy to give birth. That's why you typically find them in enclosed places like boxes or out of the way corners that don't see much traffic. When I was still a "
censored" person, our family's cat was about to give birth and we all were wondering when and where
Lori was going to hide.
I was startled one morning (about 3am, I think) to hear, ..
something going on practically next to my left ear. I turned and saw Lori giving birth to the second or third kitten (out of four) on my bed along side my head.
As anyone who knows anything about birth, it's a very messy (i.e. bloody) event. But the immediate shock and dismay I felt at seeing this happening on my bedsheets fresh from waking up, quickly turned to a feeling of being
honored that Lori had chosen to do this
here because she felt so safe by me.
To all the cat haters out there who claim that cats are too "aloof", I propose that they're just more
selective about who they show affection to.
