From the very few color pics I've seen of her, it looks like she was strawberry-blonde.

Then again, her hair looks awfully yellow in those meadow shots.  Perhaps she altered her hair color or it changed on its own with the shifting seasons.  I've known women's (or even men's for that matter) hair become "bleached" out during the summer.

Yes I noticed that too.  Could have also been the camera film/processing affecting things as well.
