Speaking as someone just laid off, the economy is not in good shape.

That's so funny.

But what's an anti MILF?

Because that's what she is.

I think we should call her the opposite, then, a FLIM.

I would run away, screaming.

The bottom line is, a McPlain administration is not going to change the Bush economic policies because they are not suffering any ill effects from it, unlike the majority of Americans. What do you eexpect from a person who could classify anyone earning $5 mil a year as "middle class" and who could say with a straight face that the economy is in good shape?

To be fair, when McCain made the $5 million a year comment, he was joking.  Right after that, he said, "... but seriously" and, "I'm sure that comment will be distorted."  He tried to make a joke so he could avoid the question.

And that doesn't change the fact that McCain isn't going to do jack-shit for the middle class, and will continue to push the Bush economic policies that have created the greatest disparity of wealth in this country between the ultra-rich and poor since the 1920s.

It didn't sound natural, and almost defiant toward Charlie for asking those question. But I do think it dangerous to announce your intention of carrying out the Bush Doctrine, and dodge the question with tactfulness is the way to go.

You actually thought she knew what he was referring to when he mentioned the Bush doctrine?

To me she was clearly trying to give it the slippery dodge, trying to fish out a description from him so she could answer it on the spot.

You think they're suffering now? Just wait until we have centralized health care - then you'll see some suffering.

The $5million comment is further out of context than that - the question was "how much does someone have to have for you to consider them rich?" not "how much do you have to make a year?" - There's a big difference between annual salary and total net worth (retirement savings, investments, house, etc.)
Personally, I'm a fan of the flat tax, which we've already seen has about a 0.0 chance of ever happening.

I agree to the flat tax idea. Can someone educate me as to why it is unpopular?

Because it could potentially put thousands of accountants and lawyers out of work.

First off, Obama is hardly proposing a centralized health care system.  Secondly, I hardly cringe in fear at the idea that 47 million who are without any health insurance now would have some coverage.  If you are talking about economic suffering, the US alreadys spends more per capita on health care than other industrialized nations, so I can't really see the issue there.
