While I believe transparency (in the way that the site is run and modded) is generally a good thing, I don't think that it's necessary or productive to lay bare every detail involved in every decision. However, just to placate curiousity w/o actually naming names: as speculated above, EVERY rule we have exists ONLY because it became necessary from a liabilty standpoint (though some are also there due to common sense and human decency such as the ban on chi1d porn). In the case of the prohibition against the SL HC video, the same reasoning applies. Due to the very-poorly-conceived actions of one single SL fan here (who decided that it was his personal duty to inform her when links to it first appeared at the BEA) undue attention and potential liability (for this site and it's Owner) was needlessly created and thus the prohibition became necessary. I'm sure he thought he was being chivalrous and that she'd be indebted to him for the info, but in actually naming the BEA, he essentially increased the risk to the site, and created another rule/ban for thousands of other users to live with from that point on.
I hope this clarifies things. To the original poster of this thread: I'm not going to ban you for your post but not because you asked me not to. I'm not banning you because your post itself doesn't justify it. However, if you're foolish enough to post something that you THINK MIGHT earn you a ban... well then, I've little doubt that your days here are numbered.
