I've given up trying to talk to people who steadfastly will not take any precautions against a real medical/biological threat. My wife Kithara only left our home six times in the space of a year due to her diminished immune system and other health factors. This was not imposed upon her, she did it voluntarily, because she was being smart, safe, and there was a strong likelihood that if she contracted COVID-19 that she would actually die from it.
When the infection numbers started to spike and so many people were nonchalant about it, I was worried that I might bring the virus home with me from work through secondary or tertiary exposure. My office only allowed at-home work for two weeks and was then deemed a critical service and we were ordered back into the office, even though I could have worked from home indefinitely. So, every time I heard of a fellow employee who had a kid who may have been exposed at a friend's house, or who's sister tested positive a few days after a family gathering I was concerned. Over that year (April 2020 to April 2021) there were some close calls. Now vaccinated, Kith still refrains from going out very much and the number of those vaccinated has slowed and now more closely follows political affiliations and less the distribution of medical need.
Like I said, I've stopped try to reason with those people who will not make any attempt to protect themselves, and through that are helping prolong and exacerbate the problem.
